New Year visit to Westonbirt Arboretum at Tetbury.

Last week we had one dry day,so my son and I took the opportunity to visit the Arboretum. The sky was so blue. The Cornus were apparently a great attraction. Usually we have visited in the Autumn or Spring,so Dogwoods here we come!!

Surprisingly, there were many people with the same idea.
Part of the lower ground still showed some flooding but didn’t deter any viewing.
The deciduous trees were showing their wonderful structure and shape before the canopies of leaves appear.
They looked so majestic.
Hope you enjoy the photos and if you live near, make a visit. You wont be disappointed.

What a lovely day out Meadowland. I do love trees in the winter when you can admire the structure and the patterns of the branches against the sky.

Thanks, Julia, for sharing your lovely day out. Wonderful fiery shrubs in pics 7 and 8 (between the Cornus shots) - please could you ID them for us?

So pleased you all enjoyed the visit to the Arboretum.
Sheila, the fiery shrubs are Sea Buckthorn,a hedging shrub related to the Elaeagnaceae family.

Lovely pictures, used to live near Bath, but never visited. Is it not silly, not visiting places on your doorstep!
