I have a couple of other varieties too, this one is a recent purchase. I'd spotted it in a garden I passed one day and decided I had to have one too! Have successfully grown new plants from cuttings before so I'm trying to raise some from this to put in my front garden.

It actually wasn't doing very well and some early new growth got killed of when the late frost came, but I re-sited to plant something else and it seems to have rejuvenated it a bit so fingers crossed!

I'm sorry you don't like it. Painting the fence wasn't an option. It was too big a job with 2 small children around and we already had things blocking it in different places because it goes right around the whole garden. As for the path, well it's a big improvement on what was there before and it's purely funtional to get from A to B without wearing out the grass. We can't move the steps and so the quickest way from the house to the shed/greenhouse is a straight line. Not an exciting design I know, but it serves it's purpose. Hopefully in a few years the trellis will be completely hidden by the climbers so that will help, and most of the fence should be hidden too.

It was grown from a cutting about 3 years ago and I'm always cutting bits off it for cooking so it's doing really well.

Again, according to the label, any good well-drained soil. I just mixed lots of soil improver/compost and some fertiliser into the soil before planting and it seems to have done okay.

This particular variety, if left unpruned can grow to 5m x 5m (according to the label that came with it.) According to my plant book it takes about 5 years to get to about 6ft x 6ft. I planted mine 2 years ago when it was less than 1ft tall and it's now about 3 ft tall.

Thanks, I'll give that a go too.

Okay, thanks. I'll try that.

Wow! It's so impressive and so obviously a lot of hard work. If I could achieve a fraction of that in my garden I would be pleased. I'll try and take on board some of your tips.

I've never seen daffs with that peachy/pink tinge. They're lovely.

Thanks. I grew this from a cutting I took 2 years ago from a plant I had in my previous garden. I has done really well.
