One of my favorite shrubs, I bet I have at least five different varieties of this shrub and at least three of each variety, can't get enough of these beautiful, long blooming, tough as nails, low maintaince shrubs !...lol

Actually I prefer the look of greenery on wood as opposed to painting the fence. It also sets you up for a job to be repeated yearly as nothing looks worse than flaking paint. If you did decide to change it probably a stain would be a lot less agro. Gardening is a form of self expression; you don't have to justify your choices, just enjoy them!! Some people prefer curves, some like linear design; some gardeners go for a carefully selected ordered garden, others prefer a rambling, natural look. As long as you love your yard, bravo!!

I think this look very boring path is straight and right down the middle of the lawn no feature to take the eye no uniformity of the trellis also the fence could have done with a coat of colour

I usually use aerial or simply layering to do these sorts of shrubs (not tried with these two tho).

You're very fortunate to have these looking so good. I've got tyrannical sparrows who pick all the heads off mine leaving a trail all the way up to their nests!!!

Hi I've done Choisya - make sure they are in a gritty compost and any time they seem to take - dont make them too big though.
