Just a thought - Bookmark??

I enjoy looking through all the latest pictures added to growsonyou. I used to start at the lastest picture and go through them until i came to the pictures i had seen on my last visit. Now there are so many i don’t always have time to get that far, so so i click onto the latest photo page, where there are a lot of picture on the screen and skip through them until i see pictures i saw last time – start from that end and work to the front, that way if i run out of time i don’t have to start again.
I had a thought this morning while i was looking for the last pictures i saw – Would it be possible to bookmark where i was last looking so that i could click onto the last picture i viewed, then work back towards the latest?
Knowing me there might already be something like that available that i’ve missed, if there is perhaps someone would point it out. If not maybe it would be worth thinking about, if other members think it would be useful to bookmark where they are???

Yes I did feel guilty I put so many on, might be an idea. But I wanted to bench mark the garden, and managed to nab the camera from my partner, he has been hogging it recently to do his own project. However I have done the same thing of you, noticed other people do also put lots onthis from time to time, guess some people just have big gardens! lol

I also think it would be a good idea to bookmark the last photo you saw. It would save a lot of time since there are so many photos to see. But I don't think there are too many - it is so interesting to see them all. Sometimes I look at the whole page and just select a few to see closeup but it is difficult to leave any out.

No I dont think there can be too many, I love looking through them, but I think its nice to know where you last looked so you dont miss any I think is the point maybe. I like you Blodyn skip through them and pick out the occasional ones that catch your eye.

I agree that a bookmark would be great! I don't mind how many photos anyone uploads as it is interesting to see them all,and members want to track the progression of their gardens, but as our membership increases it does get harder to keep track so and 'tools' possible would help. Thanks for suggesting it! : )

I agree, a photo bookmark facility would be very useful.
I'm hooked on viewing them all, many of the comments are just as interesting as the photos, but as the membership increases it is becoming more time consuming. Having said that, it is far preferable to watching television ;-)
Would it be possible, perhaps in addition, to indicate in some way the photos which are posted in blogs, questions and/or garden records so that we can know which are on view elsewhere on the site?

I certainly don't think there are too many pictures, i just find that as there are more it takes me longer to look through them. If i run short of time before i've looked at them it would be very useful to be able to find where i'd got to and pick up where i'd left off.
I also find looking through the pictures preferable to watching TV.

Good idea! The site is fast becoming a comprehensive gardening encyclopedia- will soon be putting my gardening books on ebay!! :)

Excellent suggestion. Mark. I wonder if our techie friends are thinking hard how to do this....

We love to get suggestions. Secretly behind the scenes we are hoping to give each member some individual controls over what and how they view new content on Grows on You via their "news" page but this is still very much in development so keep those suggestions coming. PS. please don't hold back on uploading photos :)

Good news from the guys on G.O.Y.It would be nice have some individual controls on what and how we view and the content. For example, we have to post up photos first of all then select them again when we are writing a Blog with photos .This is very time comsuming and it 'doubles up' the photos we upload.

I was thinking of writing a blog later in the year showing the progress of a border in my garden. The trouble is photos from April are now WAY down my photograph album.

What a great idea, mark. I managed to view all the pics, just once, when there were only about 2000 of them. I loved that day! Now, I find that I rely on people adding tags to pics, and use the "search" box all the time. This, of course, demonstrates well Popeymike's gr8 description of GOY as an online gardening encyclopedia. I always search here first for info.
