For your “word bank”
“Nithering wind”.
Used by our local weather forcaster to describe the North wind, that is really cold. The sort that chills your bones. In Yorkshire English, it doesn’t go round you, it goes straight through you.
Happy gardening Marge.

That wind makes me shiver to think about it! Not looking forward to cold weather, I hate being cold. Good word, though.

Gowing up in Devon, we always used to call the east wind the lazy wind because it didn't go round you but straight through you
