Have a great time Sid. Will look forward to hearing all about it when you get back. Don't worry about us all here on GOY suffering from bad weather and rain and greenfly and vine weevil while you have a wonderful fantastic time in beautiful Thailand!!!! ;o)

Another person growing in similar conditions to me is most welcome. At least I think you do!! Where is Monda within Spain?

Question Mike - isn't Larkspur and Delphinium the same thing? Or is it the difference between cultivated and wild?

Sad state of affairs Spritz. Customer service seems to be a thing of the past.
Re the scissors - our old neighbour used to go out and cut her two lawns using scissors. Not managable patches like Grenvilles either. Kept us amused for hours!!

Hi Monica. Have you added this visit to the Open Gardens tag? If not add it in there and let us see what it's all about. Sounds interesting

The day I become complacent with the wonders of nature will be the day they put me in a box !! Driving into our local town can be hazardous as the view of the mountains, or the wild flower filled verges draw the eyes away from the road.
Enjoy your patch of nature

Welcome to GOY Mary. Sounds like you have a real jewel filled spot. Good luck with it all and let us see some pics of the results

Hi Raspberry
Plumbago is not hardy. Unless you had it in a pot which you took into a frost free place chances are you've lost it. Your profile doesn't say where you are so I'm guessing somewhere the winters are on the chilly side. Do a scratch test on the base and see if there is any green under there

I get the impression that each species has it's own length of cold stratification time. Maybe a search on each of your seed types will give you the exact timings for it. Good luck. Will be interested in how you get on.

This is a tough one Eva and right now I don't have an answer. Will have a think and get back to you.

If you really must water in the heat of the day then don't get the water on the leaves of the plants. It can cause scorching as the sunlight is magnified through the water droplets.Water into the base of the plant where the water is going to do most good.
Best time to water is early in the morning as apparently most plants sleep through the night. Like an early morning coffee for us they appreciate a good drink first thing.
In really hot weather, you'll probably have to water twice a day - morning and evening.
Hope this is of help.

The best info I can find on this is one plant every 2 linear feet. Hope it helps

What area are these roots covering? Hopefully you are right and the roots are from the Laurels. From what Spritz has said that sounds fairly easy to deal with but if they cover all of your patch maybe it's one of the perennial weeds.
Let us know and good luck with the new plot

Bamboo (if it is a running bamboo) is easy to propagate. Get your spade, choose the part of your main plant you want, insert the spade and push down. This should cut the rhizomatous roots and you can dig up your new plant. Move it to the new planting hole, fill in and away you go.
If it's a tropical bamboo the propagation is very different but let us know.
Good luck

So exciting for you Poppy. Can't wait to the pics of the results. Enjoy and good luck.
As for you David it's only 562.5 cubit foot of stuff to shift by hand!!!! Why would we think you are "MAD" ??? Good luck mate and get the Radox ready for after ;o )

I take it you are referring to polystyrene 'peanut' shapes? If so they are great in the bottom of large pots for cutting down weight and the need for too much soil/compost. Don't know whether I would use them in a hanging basket though as it's such a small space anyway to feed lots of plants.
What type of plants are you planning to have in your basket?

As far as I know Night Scented Stock is propagated by seed not cuttings so probably not. Having said that you won't lose anything by trying!

I'm no expert on this but I think Creeping Jenny will tolerate bog conditions but not underwater planting. It is fairly invasive in all it's planting situations so go careful.

Hope you are up and at it this morning Gillian. Fingers crossed that all goes well. We finish our move today so I know how you feel - never again!!
Good luck

Such creative touches! I would never have thought of something like that. My idea of finishing touches is a nice planter or border edging!!
Wonderful garden that deserves the recognition it's getting
