SLUG WARS PART 3 - RETURN OF THE NEMASLUG

Posted on 23 Apr, 2008 5 comments

Just a quick update on my war effort against the invation of the slimey menace!

\

yesterday my reinforcements arrived, horay! so out i went armed with my watering can. to be honest the first deployment of nemaslug was hugely successful until we go frost! and as my baby hostas started to appear last week so i did have to resort to my B plan and apply some organic slug pellets – but just around the hostas;

\

but the hostas being under such threat from them deserve a little extra protection – i know they will reward me in a few months time! the pansys have got a bit bashed but only in the last week or two, since the frost but apart from that, in general there does’nt seem to have been many slugs around at all – well not compared to last year! so if anyone is thinking of investing in some Nemaslug now that we are getting to the end of the cold bit of spring (well you would think so – but don’t like to count chickens just yet) well i would defo recomend it! i will ofcourse keep you all posted on the progress throughout the rest of the spring.

Please be careful with the snail pallets, as they can kill pets too! I don't know what the slug does, but it looks like the same blue pallets I once had.

thanks for the warning Marguerite, but these are organic ones, they look the same as the nasty ones but supposed to be safe for wild life and pets, i have'nt needed to put many down anyway as the nemaslug has been hugely effective - would highly reccomend it. completely safe for kids and pets only effects slugs and you don't get the horrible mess that you do with slug pellets!
