GERANIUM CUTTINGS - ANYONE WANT TO DO A SWAP?

Posted on 15 Apr, 2008 6 comments

Thoughs of you that know me well will know that i do love a Geranium. i have quite a nice small collection of them which i regually take cuttings from to sell on ebay, and swap with friends.

i have found a really cheep and effective way of posting them too, involving a toilet roll, wrapping paper and lots of cellotape! cost approx £1 to post.

\

but i would really like to increase my collection, i love anything a bit unusual, would particually like to get my hands on the new ‘yellow’ variety which i have seen advertised for rediculous money for a geranium! i like varigated and unusual leaf colouring, and or wow factor flowers – would anyone like to swap with me? i know we have been doing it for a while with seed, so is anyone interested in cuttings.

here is a list of the ones i have – i do have some cuttings ready to go now that i took from last years plants and they are doing very well. but some of the new ones i have bought this year will not be ready to send for a while yet, as the plants need to get a bit bigger before i start chopping them up, i but just thought i would test the water and see if anyone is interested?

‘Caroline Schmidt’
‘Distinction’
‘Golden Staph’
‘Lotusland’
‘Raspberry Ripple’
‘Apple Blossom’
‘Mexica Tom Cat’ (Ivy leaf trailier)

and i also have some unknown vareities – pure white clasic bush, birght red ivy leaf trailier, and this one;.........

flowers…...

......and the foliege

\

i have pictures of most of the named varieties on my garden page if anyone would like to have a look, and if anyone would like to swap but not sure how to take cuttings effectively or how to wrap them feel free to ask!

Would if hadn't lost all but two of mine...:-( by the way, what happened to the baby plant you were going to send me - from way back, I just remembered. It was a spiky- looking green leaved one.

hi Spirtz - i have'nt been able to get cuttings off! it has lots of off shoots around the bottom but the are stuck firm, and to be honest as i don't know much about the plant i did'nt want to risk taking a knife to it! as and when it out grows the pot it's in - which is the biggest one i could find i will give it a go and i will ofcourse send you a baby if it's a success - in the mean time would you like me to send you a baby geranium instead to build your collection back up? if so send us your address on a private message and i'lll dig you one out thats ready to go! hows that! x

What a unique way of posting cuttings ,not many geranioums ready yet but fuchsias yes.

I have a geranium called Apple Blossom I bought last year at gardening Scotland, she is still a young plant but when she grows mature enough fo rme to take cuttings happy to swap.

A new one to me is a varigated one called Caroline Schmidt if you woudl like me to grow on a cutting for you.

Do you have any of these?
