GOING POTTY!
Posted on 24 Mar, 2008 5 comments
Dispite the sleet and snow showers and icey cold winds i just could’nt let a bank holiday weekend go by without a ‘little project’ in the garden! and there is a mini project i have been pondering for a while and after chatting to Spritzhenry about pots earlier i just could’nt resist going out and doing it! – work off a bit of the obsessive easter egg eating! lol
anyway getting back to the project – i have this rather deep,- what i call my ‘woodland bed’ – it’s not actually a woodland at all – only 2 trees over hanging it but it kinda has that feel about it – well a bit! the problem i have is accessing the back of it for weeding, the only way of doing it is to tred in between the plants which compacts the soil which means – yep more digging for me! – not a huge fan of digging as i have a bad back, i do it when i have to but why make more work for myself? so i have been pondering for a while the idea of putting stepping stones through the middle. and not a new idea i know, but i do like to see a few pots mixed in with a large border. gives height and interest when the garden needs it (like now) and it is so easy to change according to season, colour ect. i have been having a chat with Spritz about pots and how potty we are about them. loads of them and not enough patio space to put them all. so i thought to myself why not kill the two birds with one stone! and this is what i come up with!........
yep 5 little stepping stones through the middle of the bed. we have tones of broken bits of paving out the front from where Jay has been digging up the crazy paving to create a new flower bed (my idea ofcourse!) and like all of Jays ongoing projects they tend to ‘ongo’ for quite some time. so he has’nt got round to getting rid of them so i had my pick, and managed to find some that are just ideal!........
well what do you think? brain wave or what! i know the pictures are not the best but what with the lack of flood lighting in the garden by the time i had finished most of the light had gone!
