Beautiful photos!
Apart from reading gardening mags, why don't you try baking ? After dark, bake bread, it fills your house with gorgeous aromas, or make some mulled wine, or soup? Then when you cuddle up with your magazine the scent of soup or the cinnamon will arouse your senses and chase away winter blues.
I hate the dark nights but love the scents and tastes of Autumn and Winter, maybe have an evening bonfire in the garden, ? or buy a brazier and huddle round with friends/dog ? roast some chestnuts?

I think you'll definitely have to buy one for Millie:-)

you could do worse'' after all who are some of the people that roses have been named after, or you could call it after the queen and get yourself a title. lol
On question - A Question For Bluespruce Please
Louise, I'm in love with aquilegea clemantine rose it's gorgeous also the other mauve one. I think the only aquilegeas I don't like are the red and yellow ones, don't know why, can't stand them. i've never given much thought to saxifrage either, but yours is very pretty when you really look at it. I don't have a rock garden but it would look nice at the side of a path wouldn't it. Enjoyed the blog, thanks. I am not keen on March when I was born, rubbish theory:-)

I want one of these;-) for me! Cats do love enclosed places don't they. My old Dunkel loved boxes bags anything like that and it was almost the death of her. In my first house we had an open fire. We used to buy bags of coal comprising three plastic bags in a thick paper bag and kept them near the fire. When the last plastic coal bag was to be thrown on the fire, instead of taking it out of the large paper bag, I would fold it over it and throw both on the fire. I had picked up the bag folded it over and was about to chuck it on when I realised it was my little black Dunkel inside, not coal! She lived for over 20 years so the experience didn't seem to harm her:-)

if you can identify which adult it is and when they lay you should be able to take action then before they lay their eggs.
On question - Caterpillars On Choisya
there are a group of them are they the tortrix moths that do this web thing. I usually squeeze the leaf then peel it open. a bit yucky inside but kills them.
On question - Caterpillars On Choisya
are you shore that it is not ants
On question - Caterpillars On Choisya

Yours look as happy, fat and contented as mine do! Hands up those who want to come back as a pampered feline!
On photo - "Do Not Disturb" !
hi louise, i'm not bluespruce clearly but are you just after an id or on how to grow it? My yew regularly self seeds and i just leave the plants alone. i have some in full sun some in mid shade. i am on a chalky soil and do nothing to help/hinder the plants.
On question - A Question For Bluespruce Please
very true, I finished mine yesterday, so now I can just enjoy outside (when it stops raining of course ;) )

I am, Louise! I'm exceptionally proud of him. My husband made him for me....LOL. Can't think why Bamboo thought it was a fishing rod - it's WINDY here! Obviously a windmill is required!
On blog - Toadstools !!!
Windmill? I thought it had a fishing rod that moved up and down, oh well, obviously got that wrong then, Spritz;-)))
On blog - Toadstools !!!
Why didn't you tell everyone about my 5' tall gnome with the mechanical solar-powered windmill and illuminated water feature, Louise? LOL.
On blog - Toadstools !!!
I'd sort of guessed that, Louise! But this is a piece of garden sculpture, not a garden ornament in the usual sense. I know we all get sniffy about those small little rabbits, hedgehogs, mice, whatever made out of stone, but I do remember as a small child passing a garden on the way to my grandparents which had a selection in it, and my sister and I loved it, always wanted to walk that way. They were all stone, though, no plastic gnomes! But it gave us hours of pleasure as children.

Not sure I do either, Spritz, but I have found that knowing what someone's chart looks like is quite useful in knowing the person better...

Don't like asparagus. Grrrrrr...... Don't believe in my future in the stars, either, come to that! LOL.
On blog - Dark Months
I expect you have a gentle rising sign, Spritz, and the Moon's in asparagus;-))

You have now, Bamboo! I hate orange and don't like being the centre of attention. What else am I meant to do/be like?
