Well !
The programme i always made a point of watching is back :-)))))))))))

Last nights episode was the type i really enjoy and not once did i fast forward – which is a sure-fire sign that my favourite gardening programme has managed to turn itself back around and show the kind of things that i like to see.
Each subject they featured was interesting and easy to watch – and i actually preferred it without Alys being there :-/

If the whole series is continuing like this i’ll be a happy viewer :-)

What made it enjoyable for 'me' was that i learned new facts and the topics covered were relevant to my own garden.
So often they cover subjects that i personally find uninteresting and irrelevant - hence fast forwarding !

yes i enjoyed it to Louise......

13 Mar, 2010

I also enjoyed it last night aswell.

Missed it, content of programme ? Could I find it another way ? BBC iPlayer, if I can fathom that out ! : o )

13 Mar, 2010

We've set Sky to record the whole series. Although I missed the first one. I know I'll enjoy it if you did Louise :-)

Well sorry but I thought it was awful. Carol Cline said that the reticulated iris dont bulk up in the ground. well mine do and as for splitting the crocosmia well I couldnt believe it.

It looks like a unanimous vote of approval for GW maybe they read forum posts. I wonder where Alys is? ;-))

13 Mar, 2010

I wondered that too, i was relieved though because she irritates me a bit :-/

13 Mar, 2010

I read that Alys ( why not Alice ! ) has a programme from her own small garden, showing how to incorporate veg. with flowers, perhaps she's very busy with it !

13 Mar, 2010

Just like Megan, i also missed GW last night, will have to catch up on it.
Nobody has mentioned Toby this week, seems likes its Alys turn this
time around LOL I prefer the name Alys to Alice, i think its pronounced
differently Megan....

As I commented on Derek's question, I fell asleep in the programme but I didn't expect to be interested in the subject of roses anyway. From what I saw (about 20 mins) the format seemed straightforward instead of trendy. I shall mention Toby, Freesiaperson......I may be alone but I like him!

13 Mar, 2010

Just caught up on iplayer and yes I enjoyed it, I `ve now series linked it ...........

13 Mar, 2010

I have it recorded to watch tomorrow.....Saw the first episode and thought it was much improved. I too like the idea of Alys not being there.....

13 Mar, 2010

I have just watched the programme on BBC iPlayer, that't a first for me, and was pleased to see the pergola, the climbing/rambling roses as we hope to have similar when the make-over takes place. Shan't be spending £310 on the wood though, unless a Lottery win occurs ! lol

13 Mar, 2010

i missed it too hope to catch up , Megan if you go to google, search for BBCIplayergardenersworld you should be ok ..

13 Mar, 2010

Thanks Joanella, I clicked on to BBC, then gardening archive (I think) and clicked to play, even remembered to put the speaker on ! lol

lol , you have a long way to go to beat me l. i have to ask my 18yr old everything, hes fed up having to go over & over things , makes me feel ike a 9yr old, no sorry 9yr olds are more competent on computers than me my grandchildren can run rings round me,the speed their fingers work , :o))

13 Mar, 2010

lol Joanella : o ) )

13 Mar, 2010

I also enjoyed it and it was very relevant about what is happening in the garden now! thought Toby was relaxed and natural hope this is a sign of and improvement in format and topics. didnt miss Alys at all!

13 Mar, 2010

Missed the programme but read in today's paper that Alys 'one of the bright young things in gardening',has written a book called The Edible Garden.
It seems to be all about mixing in veg with flowers which she does in her own 'wildly romantic and productive back garden'.
Apparently it's all about breaking the rules - what rules?

13 Mar, 2010

As we`re all being so honest ,I`ll admit that as Alys was absent I dIdn`t need to fast forward .........

13 Mar, 2010

Louise I heartily agree with you, at long last they have got it right, first time I have enjoyed and gained information from GW, keep it up I say, sorry did not miss Alys either, perhaps her own program might be better? we can but hope. I don't dislike Toby he does his best!!!

13 Mar, 2010

I thought it had improved from the last series, but I was cross with Carol about the Irises as well. However, if that's been her experience, I suppose she had to warn people.

I didn't miss Alys/Alice one bit! :-))

14 Mar, 2010

I enjoyed the 2 episodes aswell. I saw them on the
I-player. We don't get Gardener's world at the proper time in Wales because of people running about in a field chasing a ball.
I don't know if I will endure the episodes with Alan T. though. maybe I'll give them a miss ;o)

Oh I do agree with you Hywel about Alan T. I too thought the programme this week was much better and although Toby is not my favourite, I feel he does very well. I'm glad the stupid 30 min challenge has gone - what a waste of time that was. Don't care for Alys, so better without her, for me. I agree also with Spritz about Carol and the Irises. If thats her experience with irises, then she'd probably be interested to know other people's being so different.
I do still hanker for Monty and my all time favourite, Geoff.

14 Mar, 2010

I like Alys' 60's specs. Did I hear right that the Iris' that have grown so beautifully this year won't flower next year coz the UK isn't warm enough? Any ideas?

14 Mar, 2010

I also hanker for Monty and i love Alan T...cant be bothered with Toby OR Joe Swift OR Alys.....Im so glad everyone disagrees with Carol about the Iris...I was so disappointed with her statement...:>):<(

14 Mar, 2010

I enjoyed it too
I wasnt too bothered about the roses eventhough I love them it just annoys me I cant find any more places to put them as I havent got that sort of garden
So droppped off in that bit (sorry) Working on the nursery all day in the cold!!!
Thats my excuse.
I hadn't realised tat Alys was missing! sorry
I dont want Monty I cant stand his voice
I love Alan T and do you know I think I am warming to Toby (something that never happened with monty)
I didnt agree with Carol about the Iris either.
But I surpose technically it could happen but then lots of bulbs can be like that.
Looking forward to next week :))) a thumbs up from me

15 Mar, 2010

i enjoyed programme very much. I may be controversial but I do not like alan t any more ,think he has got a bit big headed and full of his own importance .
Joe and Toby do a great job .by the way ,poor Alys getting berated for how her parents christened her.

28 Mar, 2010
