Well, here I am.

Well, here I am on the acute care floor of a hospital with acute appendicitis. Amazingly, the tv in my room is web capable and they offer the patients a wireless keyboard to get on the web instead of watching those boring cable stations so I opted to be on the web. Looking out the window in my room I see a pond with swans and a beautifull metal sculpture of geese flying off. I can’t eat anything right now but they give you a menu where you can order all meals ala carte. The staff is very pleasant and attentive. No, all of these modern amenities does not make it worth being sick but it does take ones mind off of things a bit.I just met with the surgeon(at my age he looks like a teenager to me and couldn’t know how to slice roast beef) but then again I was that young once and do recollect some of my patients being disturbed about my youthfull appearance so much so I grew a mustache to make myself look older, at a patient’s suggestion. They’re giving me the “GOOOD STUFF” so I feel quite compfortable at present and will be taken down to surgery in a few hours. Spring here is having a hard birth with more snow expected in a few days. Looking around as I left the house to come here, I saw no crocuses at all and just a few daffodils were starting to poke through but nowhere as many as last year. In any case, time will tell as it always does. In the meantime I will view your beautiful garden photos and dream of things to come.

My appendix has been tossed into the compost pile. Everything went very well and amazingly I feel no pain at all after the surgery. They tell me that if I am a good boy and keep up with my pulmonary exercises I will be released tomorrow but I will not be able get back to the garden for a few months. The care given to the patients here is superb and I think the reason why is that the board of directors is composed of all nurses. This hospital has an "arboretum woven into a healing environment" to quote the brochure and the garden is integrated into the hospital healing philosophy. Once well I will come back here to take some photos of their grounds. Thank you very much for your get well wishes xxxxx:)

I do apologize L'strife, I 've only just found your blog, I'm glad its all over and done with though and very pleased that all went well for you, now you have to take care and make sure you do not overdo things whilst recovering....
Had a chuckle at your description of the surgeon, I can remember an old friend of mine telling a workmate off for complaining about the age of the surgeon who was scheduled to do her op, my friend told the lady it was her ignorance and that you knew you were getting old when the policemen, teachers and doctors all appeared too young, needless to say said lady was most insulted, lol.....

Thank you very much Lincs. I knew that I was getting on in years when people started addressing me as " young man".

Lol, amuses my hubby's fancy because thats how our doctor addresses him, I'm sure he must be only the age of our own son....
