Hanging baskets

Has anyone any views on these much advertised hanging baskets? I feel there are too many ‘holes’ for the amount of root space. I planted 2 of them last summer with petunias, and having grown, the lower plants then all fell down. I think the holes are too low.
This year I blanked off the lower holes with black polythene and the results are much better.

The baskets with the little piece that you clip the plants in with.

They do look fiddly, Iwas given two long cones lined with polythene, they did so well last year because I think that they have a lot of compost with room for the roots and water

I hated them and handed into the recycle shop in town .
Just did not like them at all.
