Yesterday I picked apples from the apple tree called Discovery. The apples are delicious to eat but can also be sliced, tossed in lemon juice to stop them from going brown then made into an open flan. The wasps are really going to town on them and ruining them, plus the fact that they are ready to pick with a twist of the hand. I’ve given some to the neighbours rather than them fall to the ground and get ruined. Also picked off one of the cooking apples that were ready far too soon and stored them in the garage.I store them the same way that they hang on the tree, stalk up, making sure that they don’t touch each other, on paper inside wooden shelves with wire on the outside. That end of the garage is underground so it’s cool.
Had a bonfire of all the large cuttings I’ve cut down over the last week. let them dry out first before I burnt them then the fire doesn’t smoulder on and last a long time, and today I will spread the ashes on the soil. The sun is just trying to break through the clouds, so I shall continue tidying round. This weekend I’m going to the Chatsworth show for the day. I love to watch the children riding their ponies showing their skills in the pony games.
I held a ferret for the first time when I went last year. I also like to watch the Scottish dancing. Anyway have a good day everyone.
