There’s a light breeze this morning and plenty of blue sky with patchy cloud around. Yesterday I hoed through the soil on the vegetable garden, and did a bit of digging. I did notice that the worms are back near the surface of the soil. It’s been a bit vacant of them over the last few weeks. The weeds seem to thrive in any condition don’t they, I admire them for their persistance. It’s very Autumnal this morning with that earthy smell you get too, yes even the robin is singing again. Haven’t had many birds visiting the garden though, only a few woodpigeons….we call them the tanks of the birdworld. Went to Carsington on Tuesday and the RSPB were there in the birdhide so we saw a kestrel close up through their fab telescopes and a close up of lapwings with their wonderful flourencent green wings. Anyway for today I will be doing a bit of a tidy up again and that lot will go on to the compost heap, that is now rotting down nicely. Noticed slugs and snails around but I’m leaving them for the hedgehogs, frogs and toads!!!!! Happy gardening between the showers folks….....

I can actually see the sun this morning! First time for ages and wouldn't you believe it, we have to do the weekly shop today. I'd much rather be in the garden planting out my new acquisitions from yesterday! I just hope the sun is still there when we get back...

Spritzhenry, Thursday seems to be shopping day. Me too, but when I got back, hubby unpacked and I went in the garden. But no sun here, alas. There was down in the flats, where I shopped, 26C and sun. I watered and weeded, just to catch up with some fresh air. Shopping here is in a centre under cover, airconditioned or heated. Boring, in one word. At least the journey to and fro is lovely, they call Cairns the city in a garden and it sure is just like that. Streets are lined with palms, in the middle of the road are flowering shrubs and croton, heliconia's etc. Then the mountains as a backdrop and the canefields. I had my fair share of green today.

It felt autumnal here this morning aswell. It reminded me of Sep/Oct. Then it became sunny and warm with some patchy clouds. Quite pleasant really, espacially after all the rain and winds. Hope you've had a good day Linda.

Well off we went to get the shopping and the sun went and ...it rained. Then out came the sun again but - guess what happened when I tried to plant my new ones from yesterday....yes, it rained again - hard! ! It is now 3.30 p.m. and it has rained, few minutes of sun, black clouds, rained - and so on. And I STILL have to take Henry out! Crazy day and still three plants to go in!

well at least they will get a good watering Spritz. It's absolutely gorgeous now and warm as toast. Just got the washing in. I hate ironing so have folded most of the washing to put away into the cupboards. The baby robin that visits is just beginning to lose his spotty chest and gain some adult feathers. Peter has enjoyed being in his run today. He's tucked into a carrot and fresh cabbage leaves. I shall go and prepare the dinner for tonight, and that's another day gone....don't they go quick. When you're young each day seems to be neverending doesn't it.......oh well I suppose it's old age creeping up on me now I'm 60!!!!!!!!

You are right Andrewr it's now Friday although it was 6.3 first thing this morning the lowest of the year yet.....and misty although the sun rose from the mist and it's now a beautiful morning. The starlings are squabbling over the food outside, I shall make the most of the gardening weather and have another tidy round. Some of the ivy wants a trim, and some of the climbing rose shoots want tying down and across the trellis. I shall give the fuchias their last feed of the season to gain a few more flowers, and pick some vggies for tonight's dinner. I've found that growing carrots under a cloche has stopped a lot of the carrot root fly from spoiling them/ Have a good day all.
