no gardening today.
no gardening today.

They’ll be no gardening today as it’s dark, raining hard and is expected to continue for the best part of today, so instead of watching out of the window and thinking that the grass ought to be cut, we are going out this afternoon with the ladies group from church to some of the outer regions of the area in Derbyshire. Yesterday we went to a seaside town called Bridlington. It wasn’t a bad day weatherwise and we sat and ate fish and chips from the paper sitting on a bench overlooking the sea. Seagulls were eyeing the food up but didn’t attempt to scatter our chips! We walked along the seafront and saw children burying each other to the shoulders in sand, making sand castles, and having donkey rides. On the jetty people were fishing and on the other side in a little quay fishing boats were nestled, rocking gently on the change of tide. Some people were having speed boat rides and one boat was decorated like a pirate ship with skull and crossbones flag flying, giving rides to young aspiring pirates and older ones too. It was a super day out. The gardening will just have to wait until Wednesday. Perhaps I will watch some Olypics on the telly.

I've been to Bridlington! A long time ago - but I remember it well. It's Yorkshire, isn't it? Glad you enjoyed your day and hope that today's outing will be just as successful.

Brid is a lovely place, a couple of hours drive from me, glad you enjoyed your day there. If you visit again and have more time, it`s worth noting that there is a nice garden very close by called Burton Agnes, I have posted some pics of it from my visit last year, and it is a RHS garden if you are a member.

Sounds like a lovely outing. I'm with Chris, it makes me nostalgic for Fish 'n Chips!

Sounds a great day out. Makes me nostalgic for England with the fish and chips. I'm not envious of your weather at the moment though. Did you see that I posted a lot of pics of Hungarian sunshine yesterday especially for you folk who have been having such bad weather.
