Last Sunday in July

We haven’t had much rain so the garden is getting very dry and the ground like concrete as we have clay soil. Although it is improving with time and compost. I have cut the old raspberry canes now as some of the raspberries have finished. There are another lot to come yet though. We have cabbages already. Can’t believe it! The spinach has done well and have eaten stacks of it. I don’t know about Popeye the sailorman having muscles through eating the stuff. I reckon I’ve got steel ones!!! Just have some hoeing to do through the raspberry patch then I have some compost ready to put in there. The hebes have been fantastic this year It’s been a good year for most things except that the roses have suffered greatly with blackspot. My sister is coming to stay for the week with her husband so gardening will be abandoned for seven days. We shall sit in the garden and admire it with cold drinks on the patio. Must go and prepare the last stage of a cream trifle. Lindak.

Enjoy the fruits of your labor. There is nothing more rewarding than being able to enjoy your garden with family and friends. :)

Have fun - and enjoy the sun while you can, the forecast down here is not too promising next week...:-( Sorry you've had blackspot. I did last year and decided to spray against it as soon as the roses began to get new leaves. I couldn't reach the climbers and it's obvious which ones have been regularly sprayed and which haven't!
