There is a change in the garden. Autumn is coming and the garden is winding down. There are however a few latecomers.

You have a very interesting garden, Linda... Could you tell me the name of the shrub before the pink Dahlia.

Looks like you have a lovely green oasis there with lots of tree cover. My garden is similar, with just little pops of colour at this time of year. Is that plant edelweiss?

Our garden is predominantly green at the moment with only a few touches of colour. Yours is looking lovely. Your bench is in such a pretty spot.
Looks like you a lot of leaves waiting to fall - as we do!!!

Your garden is lovely Linda. I can see you still have some colourful flowers.

Its a mystical tour with all the paths bordered by tall shrubs. I see your Brugmansias are still looking untouched by snails too. It looks really lush and so established. :)

Everything looks so lush as though you haven't had all the heat. The Bergenia leaves look lovely. Perhaps you've been very busy keeping it all watered.

Your garden looks wonderful so much interest there and lovely coloured assortment of flowers.

I cannot find the name of that plant, Meadowland. Perhaps I should put it into 'Questions'. It isn't a shrub it has long greyish stems and leaves. I bought it in Morrisons a few years ago and haven't named it. It isn't Edelweiss.
The leaves are already falling, Wildrose. It is a huge job picking them up. The leaf mould is good for the garden tho'.
Thanks, Hywel, 3d and Pb. I have spent most of the summer growing veg with my friend Barbara in her garden.
It has been a lot of rewarding fun.
I have a strict regime against snails and slugs. Unlike you, Karen, I don't throw them into the field over the wall.
I did a lot of watering, Feverfew. We have had more rain lately in Scotland and it is never quite so hot here.
Thanks for your lovely comments.

You have a beautiful garden Linda and your Hydrangea is so blue. The flower Meadowland was asking about looks like one of the "everlasting flowers" I have in my garden. Anaphalis?

Linda you have a beautiful well established cool oasis of a garden, with a really lovely wall ! I cannot get over the size of the Bergenia leaves, I wish ours looked so healthy......
I do spy some Tithonia? and you still have plenty of colour...

It seems a while since we saw pics of your beautiful restful garden Linda. The narrow path with greenery on each side looks so very inviting - I feel better just looking at the picture!

I'm thinking of starting a 'Slug Casting' festival actually. In Dorset they create a whole lot of fuss around chasing cheese and (I kid you not) Knob throwing. So I thought it might be a boost to Angus tourism. An international Slug Casting competition. People could come from all over the world to Cast the slimies over our hedge and the one who flings their slug farthest could win a years supply of Organic Snail Gel skin treatment (bawk).

You are correct, Thorneyside, it is Anaphalis. I will put it in my 'Garden' bit on GoY.
Bergenia grows really well here. It is damp and not too cold in the winter. Yes, DD, it is Tithonia. I grew them from seed after seeing them on Gardener's World. I have made a lot of mistakes growing them this year but next year they will be wonderful.
Thank you, Stera, I have been so busy growing veg this year I haven't taken a lot of photos. I never have my camera or phone at Barbara's veg plot.
Well, Karen, I like the sound of this 'Slug Casting' festival. I am not too sure about the prize, however. Organic slug pellets might be better but then it would be difficult to practice.

The boys have no slugs in Sweden. The Swedish word for slug is snigel. Thought you might want to know that, Karen in case your festival goes global.

Its bound to Linda! ;)

Many thanks Thorney side and Linda!

Fall is definitely a double edged sword! Seeing the gardens start to wind down, doing final mulching etc - But also a great time to hit the clearance racks and start planning for next season!

No slugs in Sweden! I didn't know that, perhaps we should all go & live & garden there. Do they something else though? A plant gobbling Yeti or maybe just deer?
