Bad weather here in the north.

Well, my niece lives in Moffat in the Borders and had to stay with my sister in Glasgow last night. I am so glad she didn’t try to get home or she would have spent the night in her car.
It isn’t too bad here in Glasgow but it is always difficult getting our car past the gates if we have snow.
More snow due tonight.
Hope all you northerners are ok.

This is what my garden looks like now here in NY. I keep a bird feeder filled to the brim in plain view of my kitchen window and enjoy watching the different birds feed as I'm drinking my coffee. It helps!

I'm sorry things are so difficult for you Linda, and for everyone in Scotland. I hate snow, it's so depressing and dangerous ... I hope it doesn't last too long.

Glad it wasn't so bad for you Linda, and your niece was able to stay with your sister..an awful day/evening here, and it took my daughter over three hours to get home, which should take 30 minutes..her partner, who works in N.Yorkshire left work early at 3 pm,'just in case ' !and finally got home 6 hours later, which normally takes 50 minutes..skidded when he was almost home, and damaged his car..new bumper and other repairs needed !.so they weren't a happy family last night..other arrangements had to be made,to pick up one Grandchild from School, and the other from Nursery..luckily,there were family members who lived nearby ..not a good forecast for tonight and tomorrow either ! Just relieved they were all safe ,which is the most important thing...:o)

No snow here worth mentioning Linda! I can’t believe how bad it is in other parts of the country. Take care on your driveway! X

I've given you a like Linda for the lovely photographs, however I've outgrown my love of snow, its only alright if one doesn't have to travel anywhere or be sitting at home worrying about others who are doing.

The first two photos are where we have a bird feeding station, we watch the birds from our sitting room, Bathgate. Snow is nice to look at but that is all. It is very slippy out there, Hywel and Lincslass. I got Barry to take the car down, Karen.
That is really bad for your son, glad he wasn't hurt, Bloomer. It is frightening when you skid in the snow. We just aren't prepared in this country for bad weather.

I didn't realise you had snow also Sandra. I only saw Scotland on the news. Take care x

we had a light sprinkling over night so the garden was white over. showed the cock pheasant up beautifully. freezing again tonight but I don't think any more is forecast. thankfully. hope you all stay safe.

Snow can be inconvenient and dangerous but doesn't it make your garden look lovely!
Linda and Sandra what horrid experiences. Lets hope it soon gets better.
Nothing here but strong winds and too much rain.(No change there then...)

Your photos certainly bring the situation home to us, Linda. Here in the South we have had no snow so far. Today we have quite a lot of blue sky though the wind is keen. It's good to stay indoors!

Used to love snow as a child. Didn't realise then how perilous it can be. Really felt for the people stranded in their vehicles as shown on the TV.

Talk about adding insult to injury, Bloomer. To get his car damaged so close to home after a nerve-wracking journey! Then the inconveniences!

The snow here only lasted a few hours, but it was the amount that fell in that time which caused all the problems. It had rained beforehand so any gritting done was mainly washed away, leaving it icy underneath..Yesterday was much better, although that wasn't the forecast ! Gale force wind overnight ,sleety showers today, but mainly fine..let's see what the rest of the week brings..and thanks all,for your kind comments..
Sorry Linda,I didn't really mean to take over your blog, but was just venting my concern..I do apologise..and I hope it is much better for you too now..:o)

Lovely photos Linda,stay safe.

Lovely to look at, but not so good to be out in, take care all those in the snowy areas.....

I'm glad the weather improved Bloomer. Today has been much better here too. Next week has to be milder but we are off to Sweden so who knows what's next for us.

Snow is something that can make a scene look so pretty and magical and yet cause so much disruption and chaos. So many were stranded in their cars which must have been really dreadful - I hope that everyone is now safe and sound and warm at last.

How is it now Linda? Even we've had a covering this morning...but not enough to be pretty or disruptive.

Today isn't good. We have had more snow with more expected tonight. I nearly ended up colliding with a truck this morning coming out of our gates when the car slid on ice.
We have a private view tonight but we will park the car across the road at our friends house rather than take it up our drive when we come back.
Next week is to be better. We fly out of Edinburgh for Sweden but it looks as if it will be ok traveling. It is warmer in Gothenburg than here.
The east coast seems to be better, Karen.
Thanks Wildrose........sitting by the fire writing this with a cup of tea in hand.

Sorry to hear that ,Linda, but glad you are ok..It would be such a shock ,and just setting out too..Ok on lower ground where we are,but up on the hills..atrocious again today..mainly ice on compacted snow..
I bet you can't wait to get to Sweden..have a lovely holiday..:o)

Yes, enjoy your Swedish break Linda! :)

Lots of snow, looks pretty, keep warm and safe

Thanks, Bloomer, Karen and Dawn. I have been checking the weather in Sweden which is pretty much the same as Scotland. We wouldn't like to be driving through snow from the airport but it looks ok there next week too.
