Return from a month in Sweden

I am back from spending the month of May in Sweden. As many of you know my two sons have bought three acres of land and houses in rural Sweden 60miles from Gothenburg.
It has been very hard work but we loved it. Their spring starts three weeks on from ours and we had snow at the beginning of the month. It changed very quickly and the landscape turned green in a few days. My initial job was helping my son John paint inside the house but finally, I started on the garden.
All visitors are made to work.
We bought a lawnmower, a strimmer, a wheelbarrow, an axe and a bow saw. A chipper may be needed too.
The ponds will be a later job……this visit was about setting up the garden.
We arrived in the Dandelion season and left as the Wild Lupins were flowering.
Here are some photos.

Goodness, what a change in the weather during the month, and the vegetation. The property is looking great after everyone's hard work, but obviously time for relaxation in beautiful surroundings.

You really got stuck in, lots of clearing done! Such a nice way to get families together. I hope the midges weren't too bad yet. What's the plan with the garden?

Wow what a fabulous place, it looks so different in the second photo, I guess your son's know that mum and dad would work hard for them, lol, I hope you get to visit many times Linda, it will be grand to watch their progress through the season's, I wish them well in their new homes....

I am not sure about relaxation. We were up by six and in bed before nine. I just love it and the neighbours wave when they pass in their cars. (Five a day max)
It is the mozzies you have to look out for.
We found the scarecrow in the barn and thought John's friend's kids would like it. John is the strimmer person.
At the moment I am trying to create a herbaceous border leading up to the house. Plants are not easy to come by. My Swedish friend has given me some and I have moved some from other beds I intend to grass. Two beds looked as if a body had been buried there. The lump in photo four had been a water feature. It was top of my removal list.
The trees are wonderful as is the setting.
I want three cherry trees but how I get them I don't know.
Summer bedding only appeared in the shops at the end of May and seeds are very uninspiring. It is a farming community so gardening isn't top of their list.
As I am not their all year growing seeds are not an option.
Anyway, it is a fabulous place. The two ponds, will be tackled next year. They are pretty big and I don't know how deep they are.
I will let you know how we get on.

We aren't getting mail yet. We have just got dustbins and the internet. Things move slowly here. By next year we will be up and running.
