A busy few days in Yorkshire..Part one..

As it was the christening of my youngest great-nephew last Sunday, my daughter and I decided to have a few days in Scarborough instead of rushing up and down on the one day, our apartment was very good and we will certainly hire one again, the weather was grand all the time we were there,( makes all the difference) our jackets weren`t needed at all.. We crammed as much in as possible and were very snaphappy with our camera`s, I thought I`d share a few pics.

Anne Bronte is buried in the graveyard next to the church that is just below the castle walls..

The Spa was where my brothers oldest daughter held her wedding reception a few years ago..

Of course the locals kept an eye on us, whilst I watched the boats..

We also visited the Abbey at Whitby.

I love the harbours and could spend hours watching all the boats but it was onwards and upwards yet again
Flamborough Head and Bempton Cliffs were beckoning..

It was lovely walking the clifftops and watching the birds and of course lots of wildflowers and grasses waving in the breeze.

We walked our little legs off that day, it was a good job we had to the christening lined up for the next, lol..

So much to look at there! Strange - Partner and I were talking about places we'd not visited in Britain before we moved here and Scarborough was one of them - looks like I missed a trick there! :o(

I think I said before I've a soft spot for Yorkshire its a lovely county with so much there of interest.
Your photo's are very good indeed, the gannets on the cliffs especially, did you watch them dive.....you see the splash then a second or two later hear the plop.......
I think that on a lovely day as you had there is nothing like the east coast.......

Thanks for the trip down memory lane. Went to the beaches of this lovely stretch of coast line with my parents many times as a young child, dont really remember it! just remember sand and cliffs and being happy. You took some great photos.

I really enjoyed visiting Scarborough with you lincs, I've never been there, it looks wonderful and what great pics of the gannets. I saw and heard gannets years ago in Northumberland, they're really big aren't they:-)

Very enjoyable blog with lovely pictures, I its brought back many happy memories for me, the last time we were there was 6 years ago with Polly my little scottie dog, we stayed just outside Scarborough and walked across the cliff tops to visit it, a grand old seaside resort with some lovely old buldings too, we also saw the Gannets and Puffins at the nature reserve at Bempton cliffs. Whitby is also another of our favourite places with the old Abbey and quaint shopping areas . So thanks very much for sharing and so pleased you enjoyed it too;0))

lovely pics, Lincs, can't wait for the next installment!

Went to Whitby years ago with a chum (I went for Captain Cook, he went for Dracula) and we visited the Abbey, it's a spectacular building project, especially given its clifftop location.

Loved the birds, how close did you get?

Pleased you all enjoyed the blog, its a beautiful area to visit.
Fran we were way above the gannets, I just kept clicking away with the camera, I kept altering the settings and hoped for the best, I have loads of pics and was really pleased when I put them on my laptop at how good they turned out, they were performing a Dracula session whilst we were there but it was far too nice to stay and watch it, thats for a rainy day, lol..
Hywel the christening was grand, its good to have a big family event, the baby was very good all day, he was the star of the show as was his right, he`s been named Jack after my dad...
