We are getting there thankfully, as we had to go shopping we took a detour to check out Rutland Water, a little bit brighter today but I don`t think its going to last as still very dull as you can see…
Taken 4-3-2012 as you can see it was very low..

Taken 4-5-2012 there is a big difference.

Stood more or less in the same spot..

Not today though its hidden again… 4-5-2012

Went around in a circle and headed off to see the Welland at Duddington..

Looks good swirling around..

Gone down loads as it did flood the plains and come up over the road…
The swans didn`t seem to mind…

Made a change to go out for lunch dear, the walk did us good, better head back now though…

Thought this would be a lovely place to live, how do you fancy one of these in your garden….

Smart aye!!!!!

Hi Sue ..
Definitely a much deeper puddle . :o)

Yes and in such a short time as well, grandson is bitterly disappointed as his scout camping weekend has been cancelled, think he thought it would be funny to sleep in a waterlogged park lol, not all bad though as he can now go to the Chess Tournament instead....

It is filling in nicely Lincslass, lovely to see the comparison I did wonder how much had gone in since all the wet weather. Thank you for posting the pictures. I have some friends going to Rutland Water to caravan park for weekend hope it stays fine for them. Shame for your grandson though, but safety first eh! At least the Chess Tournament will be dry.

The pictures say it all, Wet, Wet Wet! great pictures of the Swans and the water swirling under the bridge. Like the Windmill too would make a good feature on a much smaller scale,;0)

I like Rutland water - went with the school all those years ago - it's great the rivers and all are filling up now - but I do think it's made its point now :D

Great photos Lincs. Its good to see how much the resevoirs have filled up - what a difference! I would love to stay in that windmill, the views must be wonderful. You must live very close to Barnsdale - Geoff Hamiltons old garden. We were lucky enough to visit there about 3 years ago - still miss Geoff.

They will need waders Olive...
About 6miles away Poppy, I like to visit Geoffs gardens, we check them out on a regular basis and of course one has to partake of a bite to eat, I know the pies and sausage rolls are perfect as I spent over 37yrs making them at the butchers in my town, lol, also one has to buy a plant...

4 May, 2012

Buying plants at the butchers? Is that because Garden Centres are selling meat pies now? :-)

4 May, 2012

LOL, I didn`t word that very well did I Andrew?, guess what though, our local garden centre does actually have a butchers as well, I think it does quite well, there is also a vet`s and a hairdressers...Trouble is its across town from me so too far to walk, guess thats one way of saving money, its bad enough seeing the plants every time I have to shop for groceries ...

:)))))

Our cheap and cheerful garden centre is becoming more like a hypermarket. You now have to pass through all these other departments to get to the plants right at the back of the establishment

Definite improvement there Lincs great pics :o)

Can't believe what a difference a month makes! Enjoyed your blog and aren't you lucky living in near Rutland Water. Have you been to Geoff Hamiltons "Barnsdale?"

Been a few times Rose, its well worth a visit if you are ever in the area, I can still see him doing his programmes from his gardens, he always comes to mind when wandering around the gardens and one can picture him sitting in his little hut....

What a lovely place you live in Lincs, really enjoyed the trip. I'm so pleased about the water levels and I promise I won't moan when it rains a lot ever again:-)

We've been a few times , but not recently. We still miss him. Apart from Alan , I think he was the best. Never ever missed gardeners world in those days and now, I don't really mind if I miss it. I have a picture with hubby sat in that same seat when he used to finish the programme, saying " have a great weekend". One of his other sayings we loved was .." Sometimes I sits and thinks and sometimes I just sits!" Everytime I sit in our garden thinking what to do next, it makes me think of this saying.

Your blog pictures made me feel much happier about the water situation. That was a clever idea to take before and after pictures. All those who have water from Rutland reservoir must be glad that it is filling up so rapidly. It is such a lovely place for an active open air holiday. I wish I was young enough to go sailing, canoing or cycling around it.
