April showers.

April 1st, no rain for months so I did this….

Desperate measures, I needed that bathwater…
Our hosepipe ban was due to start April 5th, the rain started on 4th, ( breathes a sigh of relief) and carried on for over 36hrs, the waterbutts were filling fast and I filled every bin and container I had..

I got wet carting water about filling up my old dustbins so as not to waste it, I even borrowed my recycling bin for a while, since then I`ve started using the garden waste bin, all in a very good cause, says I, lol…

Its rained every day since then but last week it was possible to get into the garden between the very heavy showers and I even got the grass cut, just in time as thats when the hailstones started, still NOT despondent, we do need the rain………………… Another week starts with more April very heavy showers and hailstones but we did get some lovely sunshine in between and the gardens are looking grand…………… HOWEVER, the shower we are having now started Monday night, I did see some sunshine Weds at appox 3.15pm, I was drenched as I was meeting my grandson from school, by 3.30pm it was chucking it down again and said grandson was also soaked as we made our way home, its a flipping long way to his school and home again and YES I AM GETTING FEDUP NOW…,………….. Thursday morning and still raining, even a trip down the yard needs wellies as its flooding from my overflowing waterbutts, so I haven`t even been to the g.houses yet….

As you can see Brynner and Morgan are very busy in front of the fire ..

Caspar has the back of my chair, also very busy..

Tipsy is comfy in the dining room…

Harry is the only one who braved the weather and he`s had enough now and wants to come in again, lol..

OY !!!! YOU INDOORS, our feeder needs filling !!!!!!!

On the plus side, its hubby`s day off so at least I don`t have to walk to meet my grandson today, Yippee!!!!!!!!! YES !!! we do need the rain but NOT ALL THE TIME…..

Brilliant Lincslass, my 15 year old Westie laid in front of electric fire to keep warm this morning, I thought I could smell something burning - I could it was his fur, lol he gets that close to it it scorches him. lol. He also lays in the hearth of the open fire and has to turn his head because it gets so hot only moves when it has become just too much to bare. Senile old dog they say they grow to become like their owners don't they. lol :o))))))))

lol it's either feast or famine with the rain, isn't it?

Hello Fran, where you been hiding, not seen you for a while. Yes its all or nothing it seems.
Olive Morgan does that and we have to move him, mind you the white cat Harry,( who also belongs to daughter) set his tail on fire a few years back as he laid near the cooker, it was a horrible smell and the daft cat didn`t notice until I threw a wet teatowel onto him, the top of his tail now has a yellow streak .....

Lol! Sorry I know I shouldn't laugh but that is funny xx

19 Apr, 2012

I know, we laugh now but it was scary at the time, Harry hasnt learnt his lesson either, the thing is my daughter has no sense of smell at all and I dread to think what would have happened if she'd been in the house on her own upstairs or something as his fluffy tail was all aflame, it was the smell that alerted me.....

Oh Lincs, you did make me smile. And guess what - our gardening club has arranged a speaker to talk about planting in drought conditions!! Quite funny really . .

Pansy I did treat myself to some new style planters with obelisks for toms and cucumbers but that was online so awaiting delivery.
Sheila thats really made my day, lol....

Our Council has offered to let our Garden Club members have the recycling bins with broken lids, to use as extra storage for rainwater

Be good if ours do that Andrew, I do have an old one that came from an old quarry years ago, it holds as much water as my largest butt, I just stand it near one of my sheds and dip the can into it....

Your not going to sink your own bore hole then Lincs, the very latest thing "to do", only costs between 3 and 8 thousand pounds.

Lol, Stroller!

19 Apr, 2012

Stroller I won`t have to bore very far down at the moment, I`m 3ft lower than my neighbour and all her water drains onto my yard, lol... I keep getting ads at the top of my page for those very expensive waterpumps.....

Well, there's not much I can add to all of this except to say, roll on summer and lets have a drought! lol.

21 Apr, 2012

I'm only whispering this cos don't want to upset the apple cart but we have sunshine and its dry on my patio and yard, lol....

I am thinking of building an ark - we shall need one soon if this lot keeps on, the garden is stood in water and I mean stood, inches deep this morning, has gone down now but is very very wet and very very muddy.

21 Apr, 2012

I didn't mind at first but my gardens like a swamp at the minute with my clay soil! To make matters worse, my water butt is blocked and i cant find the culprit! Such a waste! :(

22 Apr, 2012

We are clay soil here too Smoo, very messy right now, but eh ho Summer is only just around the corner....................

We had sun yesterday Lincs but typically we were going to friends for the day as it was Hubbies birthday. So I'm hoping for a bit more sun, but I'm afraid the forecast is not good!
