Harvey the Hunter

A bit of cat induced drama tonight. Our cat Harvey has brought home various birds as presents over the years. We’ve had birds flying around in the living room and I have occasionally come home to a living room decorated with bird feathers but tonight Harvey thought he would try something different. He brought home a live mouse for Mum and Dad. Of course after he deposited it on the living room rug he lost interest and went out again. Of course I acted like the big mamma in the Tom and Jerry cartoons and tucked my feet under me on the couch and I was not moving until Ted had caught it and put it outside where it belonged. At least now I can go to bed in a rodent free house. Night all.

lol :o) I've lost count of the live field mice Fluffy brought in the house. I used to leave the door open and they would go out on their own after she lost interest in them.

With 4 cats here, I have been in your position more times than I like to think about :)

No Harvey doesn't eat them, he looses interest once he's caught them.

Yep - I get lots of presents too. But I must share a funny story with you. My cats were all sat staring at the washing machine, so we guessed a mouse had escaped death and taken refuge under it. For hours they sat patiently, suddendly they were in my bedroom looking at the wardrobe - yes the mouse was now under the wardrobe, they eventally gave up and went to sleep and so did I. Later there was a scuffling sound and I felt something run across my head followed by a cat who with no concern for me landed thump on my head - I woke up screaming at my husband there's a mouse in the bed.
So picture this @ 3am me with a glass bowl (catsnow locked out) and my OH slowly pulling back the duvet to unveil a little mouse just sitting there looking at us, quickly the glass bowl went over it - now what? whats the next move, without loosing the mouse, a plate under the bowl was the answer and the mouse was taken outside - what a night.
I hate cats at times - bless um.

What a great story. If that had been me I would be screaming. Just glad we managed to catch our little mouse and get him out before bedtime.

Tilly one of my cats is always catching live nice and bringing them in and letting them go, but like Hywel i leave back door open and they find there own way outside, little field mice dont like being indoors.

Lilyanne, my cats do this, bring me little pressies, birds but mainly little voles and leave them either in front of my armchair or in front of the cooker. They bring them very carefully, never eaten or played with. Never had them in the bed tough Kfunsters, couldnt get up the stairs. Great story.

If we spot one of ours bringing a live mouse or suchlike ,its a mad dash to shut the patio window, I only like them from a distance and would be terrified if one escaped into my house, its happened in the past and took 4days to catch the flipping thing,...

My bedroom is on the ground floor, next to the utility room thats how the mouse moved from utility room to bedroom.
