Saturday garden shopping

Yesterday morning Jim and I took a trip to a local garden centre that sells a terrific selection of acers. I had been planning to go there since last summer to replace one acer that died and another as a specimen plant to fill a large gap in the north facing border. I had saved up for the acer as I knew it would be expensive and couldn`t wait to spend my money on what I thought would be a large acer and a much cheaper, smaller one. As it happens I was more than pleasantly surprised to find exactly what I wanted and more than half the price I had expected to pay. In fact, I bought two large ones and still had money left over. So did I leave it at that? No of course I didn`t…lol!

I wanted a lime green acer so this one, `Emerald Lace` fitted the bill nicely.

This one, `Garnet` I`ve had before but this one seems to be a more vibrant plum colour.

I came across this yellow Canna Indica and decided it would lovely in a pot along with assorted bedding plants and grasses.

Then I saw this stone birdbath at just £18 and since I`ve been looking for one for a while I had to have it!

This azalea in my garden has just come into full flower so I thought I`d take a photo

Now I`m just waiting for it to stop raining and I`ll plant the acers in the ground. I had thought about planting one of them in a pot but thought better of it, they do better in the ground and anyway, I have a baby one that I got free with a plant order last year. By the time we have our new patio next year it should be big enough to transfer to a larger pot that can sit out there.

I`ll be working tomorrow and with it being Bank Holiday I hope the weather holds. It`s usually a really busy day for us and with luck tomorrow will be no exception. It seems everyone seems to think of the garden on a Bank Holidayand I`ll be at the till ready and waiting for them. :o)

Beautiful Acers there Sandra, I must post a photo of mine for I.D. ! I took Mum to our local Wyevale this morning, torrential rain, very few customers and only bought some Geraniums. Off to a Spring Garden Show tomorrow where there'll be at least 25 Nursery stalls ! Hope the rain stays away, it has stopped here now (8.15) at last. : o )
