Travelling gardener. Help?

I am due to visit Washington DC in a few weeks and not having been there before I have been trawling the web for ideas.
I want to visit the best gardens in the area and I would love some advice.
Has anyone been to the area?
The best site I have found seems to be My Capital Gardens USA but some personal recommendations would be great.

Sorry but I was too young when we lived there, all I remember was the cherry trees on the mall. Hopefully someone else will have more info. Hope you enjoy your visit.
