Bonsai Blues

Hywel’s question on creating a bonsai brought back a flood of memories.
I had worked 15 years on the bonsai tree that you see in this photo.

It measured 24 inches and due to work hours I had not been able to get the leaves to the smaller size…I just didn’t devote the time to the pruning that was needed…Not that it couldn’t still be done. The husband that I was married to at the time had a dog that tore it out of the ground and instead of telling me about it he just threw it over the fence into the ally. When I discoved it was missing it had been run over a few times by vehicles….I grieved for a week. I hadn’t tried again but last May my oldest daughter showed up to give me a mother’s day gift. :)

I’ve been able to keep it alive over the winter and with the answers to Hywel’s question I may try one from seed again.

OH! the things GOY inspires.

Very thoughtful of your daughter,it looks a very good little tree and hopefully will thrive for years.i can well understand your being upset at the loss of the other one and if anyone did that to anything in my garden they would be over the fence after it.........

LOL lincslass...If you noticed I spoke of him as a "past husband" It was a very short lived mistake. Current husband...Won't trade him for the world. :)

What a shame about your tree. It looked like an oak - the same as the one I want to grow.
Your new one looks good. Good luck with the seeds too.
I take it you got rid of the husband who got rid of your tree.

yes Hywel I got rid of him...it was more than bonsai homicide that got him kicked out the door. Life is definately better as the result.
