Orioles in our Mexican garden-for Driad

We have several kind of these colourful birds visiting our garden every day. Usually they come to hummingbird feeders (they love that sweet juice as much as hummingbirds do. They also like oranges.
These are all quite large birds.
Few pictures of Hooded oriole (Icterus cucullatus)

Black Vented oriole (Icterus wagleri)
When you hear this bird’s squeak (cannot call it song) you would swear that they used this sound in Star Wars movie for some of the “Martian” characters…therefore we’ve adopted the name Martians for them :-)

-—————————————————————————————-

I believe this is a Streak-backed oriole (Icterus pustulatus)
My DH made a feeder for them from plastic milk bottle.
Male

and female

I have seen Altamira oriole around but do not have it’s picture available.

I'm familiar with the Baltimore Oriole but have not heard of these. They are very striking and colorful and yes they do sound like R2D2. Thanks for sharing. :)

Thank you Hywel. I know that you have a bird phobia and I am pleased that you looked at my pictures anyway.

I love their melodic song... We have the Baltimores..lovely birds. Haven't heard one for years come to think of it. Had them at home (in Muskoka) they built their nests in the top of the tall elms. As a child I learned to identify the songs of the orioles, robins, cardinals and sparrows... sad to think that they are not common now. things certainly have changed.
