Charro culture in Mexico

I do not see burros around any more…like in the first picture. When we first came to this part of the world they were plenty of them around. But horses are still very popular and some are really beautiful. They are used mainly as a way of tansportation, but Mexicans also like their rodeo type events.

My friend Tina down the road.

This is burro called “Vino Blanco”, he has a good life.

Horses are my favourite domestic animals.

That was interesting. I love horses too, but I have no desire to ride them - just have them around. :o)

Most interesting blog. I loved the dresses. Do they have 'horse ways' - safe routes for horses, the same as we have cycle paths ?

This week I saw a young girl trying to ride a horse on the road, and it was just going round in circles. She could not controll it, and kept hitting it on it's head with a stick, and cicking it with her heals :O
I've reported it to the RSPCA. I hope they can find out who she is. Some people have no clue how to deal with animals. And she should have had an addult with her as well.
These horses look well treated (I hope)

Thank you for your comment Steragram and Nariz. I do not ride horses either.

Glad you liked the blog Sixpence48.

Diane, they do have cycle path (called cyclopista here) but it is along the main road (highway)and most horses in the village just use the village roads or lake shore. Roads are not as busy as in UK.

Hywel, that is a horrible thing to witness. I am glad you have reported this and I hope that they will find that girl.

Snoopdog, I have included a picture for you (on the end) of a burro which is very well fed and treated.

In this village there is a large population of citizens(mostly foreigners) which take a cruelty to animals very seriously and they are very active.

I hope so too ...

Am pleased to hear that. Seems in Spain it goes on all the time, and nothing is done.
