Rain rain go away
i want to get out in the garden today ….
i’ve got plans to build 2 or 3 raised beds, so i can grow some veggies next year,the area i want to put the beds needs clearing of a mountain of hardcore :-(
but until i can make a start i’m doing my research…
To build the raised beds ….
plan to use old decking planks at least 2 high maybe 3
do i need to line the beds????
should i put a layer of croc’s at the bottom????
Then what veggies to grow…..
(garden is south facing)
pea’s
runner beans
corgettes
tomatoes (got seperate pots for them)
lettuce
spring onions
any suggestions of easy grow veggies????
all help and advice welcome xxxx
when the rain eventually stops i hope to get into garden and will take some photos :-)

aww, hope the rain stop for you soon. But think how soft the ground is now, for you to dig. All the best!

Hi Kimmy and welcome to GoY, I wouldn't even clear the weeds if I was building one on your plot! The boards I used were four and a half inches wide and they went on top of what was already there, grass, weeds and existing veggie beds. You could line the sides with something like bin liners but NOT the bottom! (You want as many worms as possible to get into them) Clear as much of the hardcore as possible and, no, I don't think you will need any 'crocks'
Good luck with it and one more thing, Dont build them any more than four feet wide! ! ! You will need to reach into the middle from either side! :~)))

Welcome to GOY Kimmy you are going to be busy. Its rained here all day to miserable time of year for gardening.
