Did we have a summer ??

Well what a wet few months we’ve had.
Due to other commitments and then very poor weather conditions i did wonder if my vegetable garden would produce anything at all this year.
I grew very little from seed and bought seedings from shops or carboots. To my surprise we’ve done much better than expected.
Grew mange tout for the very first time and got loads and they were lovely too. Peas weren’t as productive but still had enough for a few sunday lunches. WOW our carboot bought green beans we cropped a few ton and there are still loads there. Carrots i grew in a new spot which seemed to suit them as they grew really well and i wish i’d sown more. Potatoes i think we had half the crop of last year but i wonder if that and something to do with the slugs and snails eating all the folige.
Still yet to crop any sweetcorn but that won’t be much longer and had a few small tomatoes.
Overall for the 3rd year of growing vegetables we’ve learnt more again. Planning for next year to add another raised bed for vegetables and one for some rhubarb.
I don’t grow many flowers but always make room for sweet peas.

You look to have done very well considering the conditions and apparently summers coming next week?

You have done very well - my brassicas have all be eaten by slugs and caterpillars and my beans have so far produced one meal, with hardly any more setting.

I also had many losses a few cabbage, brocolli and all my lettuce have been eaten, i can't believe how many slugs and snails we've had.
I'm now saving all my pennies to glue them on strips of wood to surround my veg beds
