My delayed start to the season....

WOW what a busy day :-) and the garden has been transformed from a over grown mess to a half descent plot.
Since going outside at 1pm i’ve not stopped ….. had to pop to town this morning and buy a new plastic greenhouse from Wilko’s as the new covers don’t fit the old frames and i think that added to the cause of the wind catching mine and blowing it over.
So first thing i did was to assemble my new silver very smart looking greenhouse and find a nice sunny but sheltered spot for it (hubbs very kindly leveled the slabs for me) then stopped for lunch :-)
Due to one thing and another i seem to be well behind with my veggies this year but any way today i’ve made a good start by sowing pea’s, sweetcorn, courgettes, bean’s, little gem lettuce, marigolds and some stocks. Now i’m wondering if i should pop to shops and get a batch of pea and bean seedings as i’m so behind (need to research).
Once all placed in the lovely new green house i moved on to the top garden …. oh dear….
out came the strimmer to chop down all the grass and weeds, so hubbs could cut up some old carpet and lay between the beds…..
Our 2 raised beds have been covered up until now with carpet so they were easy to weed and turn the soil over, i also re.weeded all the pots, troughs and my 2 sinks to make the ready for the veggies.
By now its 6pm and i don’t want to stop so got hubbs to light a bonfire for me and while i slowly burnt a few bits, i weeded my 6 strawberry planters, wow they are doing really well, i’ve placed them all on the 2 old greenhouse frames which have now been nicked named strawberry towers :-) might get our strawberries and cream this year.
9pm and i’ve managed to smother the fire …opps and weeded everything in sight.. time for a well earned glass of wine i think.
I’ll go out tomorrow with my camera and take a few pic’s :-)

Daylily, it was lovely today and theres forcast for another day like it tomorrow but i've nothing to do ..... :-(
Might trawl a few carboot sales for seedlings to help me catch up :-)

Sorry I'm a day late, but I always am lol. I hope your seeds will grow quickly. I've only just sewn mine, and I've still got some to sew. But it's been so cold and wet that it's been difficult to get round to it.

Fingers crossed we'll eventually get good weather and all our seeds will grow fast :-)
I've cheated a bit and bought some small plants from the local carboot (obviously someone was more organised than me) so i now have 20 green beans + 10 sweetcorn shoots all planted up and looking good :-).... just need some peas to give me a good head start.

I don't think it's cheating. I've done the same - bought some broad bean plants in a local ironmonger shop :o)

Hi, we had a fairly late start this year due to other projects but today we were in the garden for a few hours doing the weeding, where do they all come from, and enjoying the weather, was lovely wasnt it. :^)
