Slugs v Squirrels !

Went out this morning to top up the bird feeders filled them up and as I was hanging the second one up I noticed this odd thing on the bottom looked closer and seen it was a slug inside the feeder !! Wondered how did that get in there but because I had not had my first cuppa kettle was on the boil I thought oh I’ll clean that out after breakfast tip out the seeds on to newspaper and release the slug .sat down with my cuppa and I noticed something hanging off the feeder Well somethings will go to any length for a taste breakfast so set down my tea and went out with my iPad and what a sight beheld me thought only squirrels done things like this so will let the photos tell the rest of the story I would have loved to have seen its journey from the lawn to the feeder no mean feat ….. The wonders of nature .

I've seen slugs eating bird food on the ground but I'd no idea they went to these lengths! I hope you despatched the slug before he made off into your flowerbeds in order to emerge tonight and reek havok amongst your greenery.

that looks like one of the alien Spanish slugs. I hope you killed it as it is becoming a major problem. so slimy hedgehogs have a problem chewing them.

Oh crumbs thats a bigun and no mistake, I have found snails in the bottom of a feeder before now but never a slug, I hate the damn things, yukky and horrible, don't really see many here, I guess they hide from all the frogs because there will be some, thankyou froggies....Wonder how long it took for the climb up to the feeder, never would have thought that they would eat bird seed...

There was a big pale brown one on the floor of the utility room this morning. I hope they aren't learning to use the cat flap...
