It was lovely and sunny Sunday morning so I decided to go West and charge my batteries. Bit of a drive but really worth a trip. Paid for my ticket and started to take pictures.
Hellebores still flowering:

water feature and Welsh Water Discovery Centre

The Broadwalk and the singpost – which way should we go now?

Let’s go left and see Japanese Garden

Next to the oriental garden there is a Double Walled Garden. It was created in late 18th century and provided fresh fruit and begetables for William Paxton’s family and servants. Its two walls – one brick, one stone – provided protection from grazing animals and created microclimates to extend the growing season
The Outer Garden

And the gate to the Double Walled Garden – let’s go inside.

Today the garden is divided into 4 quadrants.
The story of ‘The Evolution of Flowering Plants’ is told in Quadrants 1,2 & 3 whilst quadrant 4 is a modern kitchen garden.

Let’s have a quick look at Quadrand 1 – Monocots.

But before we’ll start exploring the Walled garden let’s check what’s inside the Greenhouse

Hide your cameras! Mist spraying in progress!

Paphiopedilum tonsum

Tillandsia?

Musa laterita

Aechmea fasciata

I think that’s enough for part I.
Will show you what’s interesting in Double Walled Garden in part II.

I've just come back for my second visit..I like it even more this time :)) The brick path is very clever in the glass house, the way it leads not just your feet but your eye also. I think the japanese garden will be splendid in a short while.

You're welcome Rachelsmum. I got the message only once, don't worry:)
Will try to do the blog soon. With that kind of weather don't feel like sticking my nose out on my days off:( Might as well do a blog or two:)
I think we could do a Goy-ers meeting there this year.

27 Apr, 2012

Well I only live about 12 miles from it but I've only been once. It's very expensive to go in, and I thought it was rather drab. But I would like to meet some people :o)

27 Apr, 2012

Hywel - I was thinking about going there at the end of June. How about meeting there with others? There is so much to see - one day is not enough really:) Will try to do a blog part II and III and..... (lol) this weekend. I was there in March - just hoping it will look even better in summer:)
