July sunshine?

The birds and the bees have hurried away to shelter once again, but Molly and I have been out trudging the lanes i the mist and drizzle, and enjoying the wildflowers. To be honest, there’s little else to bring me joy on a day like this, but I am very thankful for them.

Didn’t take the camera, sadly, but when we returned home I went in to the garden looking for signs of sunshine to add to Janey’s recent collection…..no words needed except the plant names…just enjoy the nearest thing to sunshine we’ll get today.

Hope the sun is shining on some of you….somewhere! :D

Osteospermum

Sedum ‘Cappa Blanca’

Buddleja ‘Santana’

Leycesteria ‘golden lanterns’

Golden Marjoram and trailing annual…sorry, forgot the name…trailing mini petunia thingy!

Rosa ‘The Pilgrim’

Cytisus…Pineapple Broom

Rosa ‘Golden Showers’

Canary Creeper

Choisya ‘Sundance’

Clematis ‘Love Child’

Rosa ‘Summer Song’ and Pineapple Broom

Karen, thanks for sharing your little bit of sunshine, lovely pictures and brightens up another very wet and gloomy day. I am in love with the name of your clematis "Love Child" for me it sounds so romantic and endearing.

I agree Marion...I'm surprised it's not more widely grown, just for the name!

Oh, Willi, rather you than me, I got soaked out there with Molly this am!

Thanks Lulu, Pimps and Pixi

Lovely, Karen - our plants are obviously not giving up, nor should we, but oh dear...... still - the containers really are beginning to bloom, every minute of sunshine (what's that?) is absorbed and I must remain positive! Oh, but it's been so WET today!

2 Jul, 2012

Oh, sorry - what a miserable comment!!! Your pictures really are lovely, and I did enjoy looking at them! Thank you :-)

Such a variety of planting Karen, I like that Lycesteria has it produced any golden lanterns yet, and is the canary creeper hardy or do you have to give it protection over winter.

2 Jul, 2012

Melchi...no need to apologise, I think we all feel the same!

Stroller, yes it has some lovely lanterns on it already and it flowered in its first year (last year) too. Canary Creeper is an annual I grow from seed, dead easy, a kind of nasturtium.

3 Jul, 2012

Meant to say - LOVE your golden Leycesteria: never seen one that pretty before :)

3 Jul, 2012

Thanks for the info Karen :o)))

3 Jul, 2012

It's lovely isn't it Sheila? That's the one that is AKA 'Leycesteria 'Max Axe Man' remember? You're welcome Stroller!

3 Jul, 2012

Sorry Karen - I've never heard that before. Why is it called that?!

3 Jul, 2012

Hi Karen, had computer problems again just sorted them and seen this blog - lovely. Love the last one of Summer song and the Broom. My Summer Song flowered at last and I love it only trouble is it was so heavy it snapped off (two flower heads) now they are in water in the kitchen window, but it is a lovely rose.

Sheila it is called that because I was just about to pay for it...june last year...when I got the call form the Emergency dept. to say that Callum had chopped into his ankle with an axe and was waiting for the surgeon at hospital. I never did pay for it. My friend who was with me paid for all the plants and then drove me to the hospital, bless her. She stayed with me until Scott came and made sure that Callum got the best of all treatments as the surgeon on call that day was one of her best friends! She is a good friend! :D

Hi Mum was wondering where you were! We actually had some sun today, it was amazing, the world was totally different! I even got in the garden and cut the grass and did some work...brilliant...even SAT OUTDOORS ...incredible! lol...glad you like the rose, keep sniffing it in the vase! x

A Sunshine Blog - what a cheerful idea and some lovely plants there. I like the Canary creeper, the sedum and the lovely C. Love Child - how romantic! Also, R. Pilgrim looks just like an old English rose which I have had for years and of which I had forgotten the name. Is it scented?

5 Jul, 2012

Yes TB, it has a light Tea scent. Thank you.
