Thanks Linda....nope, just happened to look out ( I do look out quite often during the day) and there they were, couldn't believe it! I know Sheilar...so lucky to see these beauties...so cheerful with their bright yellow and stripes!

very nice Karen, lovely birds :-))

I believe they are Siskins Scottish. You will see them out walking in the farm fields, but I don't usually see them in the garden.

Very nice photos, Karen! I don't think I've seen these little beauties before! I was going to ask if you knew what they were called but I see Scottish got in before I did!
I saw the first episode of that series 'Earthflight'. I'd forgotten all about it since then which is a shame because I liked that first episode & wanted to see the others!
30 Jan, 2012
Earthflight was fantstic how DO they get those shots?

You should look out for Sea Eagles Susan. I was driving up a country road to my house and saw someone sitting high up in a tree with a white top on. Getting closer it was a massive bird perching and rather bending the tree! It flew off and must have had a wing span of at least 8 foot. I looked it up and it was a Sea Eagle. They were released in August and live between St.Andrews bay and the Forth - I believe they were released in Tentsmuir and a few other places, so there is a good chance you will get them in Angus. You will not forget seeing one! Wish I had my camera.

What a treat for you....

It was a treat DD. I was having a bad day, and then they appeared. Sometimes I feel so blessed!

I would love to see just one Siskin in my garden, Karen ... never mind four of them ... gorgeous little birds ... :o)

They are Shirley. I love all the birds, but my faves are Siskins, Goldfinches, blue-tits, wrens and Chaffinches. We don't get many chaffinches, just an occasional one really. I haven't seen a Jenny Wren for ages now :(. And of course you can't beat the song of a blackbird at dusk can you....lovely! I have a CD with birdsong on it...came with a sunday paper last year. sometimes I put it on when I am working on the computer...love it!

Can you imagine Megan's reaction if I played it ... lol! ... Today there has been quite a mix of birds in the garden ... a Magpie, 2 Robins, Sparrows, Blue and Great Tits, Collared Doves and, annoyingly, far too many Pigeons ... : o(
6 Feb, 2012
:)) That would be fun to see!
6 Feb, 2012
Turns out these are Yellowhammers NOT Siskins after all! :)))
8 Feb, 2012
Never mind, Karen ... they are beautiful whatever their breed ... lol! ... :o)))
