On my walk....

Had a lovely walk with Molly this morning, and the sun came out…well, almost….for a little while!

Here is a picture of the beach at high tide…..

And the tented village going up for the Ladies British Open Golf next week……you can also see the masts of the yachting club boats….

And just behind the beach, one of the beach huts with beautiful poppies in flower….

Just a few of the lovely things we saw.

Looks like you hd a lovely walk - the last photo is brilliant I love it - the red poppies against tha shabby chic blue fence - wonderful.

Lovely scenery!

your poppies look really fresh. The ones here in my part of Yorkshire are starting to fade as the corn turns golden and ready for harvesting.

I love that last photo.

At last a little bit of sunshine for you Karen, have to agree about the last photo, its stunning.

Oh Karen, you live in a delightful area, lucky you and Molly.

Don't think Karen thinks it is delightful this summer though Dawn, she is tired of all the wet they have had. It might settle now though, hopefully, fingers crossed, toes too. It is an amazing place on that coast, lovely walks, lovely scenery. Wish it was only 100 miles away I could manage that drive, not over 400+ though. It is exhausting driving up there, the train journey is no better either. When you move Karen can you move south just a tad. lol. NOT SPAIN either, cos I am not flying. lol. lol. lol.

lol....by the time my OH is ready to move the trees and shrubs will be giving us privacy and I probably won't want to go anywhere! ;)

Lovely pics Karen, the beach house looks beautiful with the poppies.

22 Jul, 2011

Oh Karen, I do hope you have some lovely sunny days ahead to have another walk along there. I could quite happily live in that beach hut . . . . .

22 Jul, 2011

So could I Shirley.

22 Jul, 2011

Too late, Stroller, I'm first in with a bid! lol . . . .

22 Jul, 2011

Think you might get gazumped though Shirley, although in Scotland they cannot gazump you.

Would gladly send you some of our sunshine, Karen...we are having a little heatwave. day before yesterday we set records...it was 35 Degrees Celsius..and with the humidity factored in...47 degrees! you could have fried eggs on the sidewalk. Things are quite dry but we've had some vicious storms, lots of wind, little rain and the lightening has started forest fires. It's very clear looking today but most of last week was under a pall of smoke! Enjoyed your lovely photos and it was a treat to smell the lovely sea air!lol. It's rejeuvenating to see random nature producing little vistas of loveliness! Those poppies are a treat!

Hi Lori....we actually had a lovely sunny afternoon today and I have been sitting outside enjoying the sunshine and the butterflies.....a huge relief and pleasure to feel the warmth of the sun on my skin! :)) Don't envy those temps. you are getting!

23 Jul, 2011

never could stand extemes...why couldn't it have been a little warmer in April and May and a little cooler now? Like the Charles Schultz comic strip character Charlie Brown says: Summers run...Winters walk.

23 Jul, 2011

So TRUE!! ....I'm cheered up by your hot spell Lori...I have this very un-scientific theory that what you get, we get 10 days later...not as extreme of course! And the forecast for next week looks a lot better than we've had for the past 2 months! :))

23 Jul, 2011

p.s. it was so much warmer today that the roses and the sweet peas were actually releasing some perfume on to the air...whoo hoo! :))

23 Jul, 2011

I am smitten by that last photo, Karen....simply gorgeous with the painted fence and those lovely poppies. It does look a great place to go for a stroll...one of the perks of living where you do (not so nice that you've had so much rain though!).

I went out on Friday morning with a plan in my head to come back home and harvest the poppy seed pods from the glorious display that grew voluntarily next to where we park our car. In my absence a council worker had come along and cut every single one down with his weed whacker to ground level! It had been raining for a few days previously and I'd been eyeing the poppy seed pods to be sure they weren't wet...I procrastinated too long :(

Nice to read that you've had some warmer weather and been able to actually sit out and enjoy the sunshine and the perfume from your roses and sweet peas. My sweet peas have no scent at all...can't understand it....it was my main reason for growing them so I could cut them and bring them into the house. Try again next year from seed as these were small plants I got for 10p when our local Focus was closing down.

Enjoy your sunshine, Karen :)

Scentless sweetpeas WL.....weird! very disappointing! Had a wonderful day in the sunshine today ending with a BBQ!! The new bbq finally got used! hurray! And the week ahead looks a lot better too...I wonder if summer has returned to Angus? .....let's hope so!

Love the pic of the Poppies :-)

I'm really glad to hear that your weather is better now...Well, I was crowing about the heat and guess what??? the weather turned on a dime...it's still warm but not oppressive and it's been raining off and on.. what would that mean for your 10 day theory, Karen? I put a 221 L. container under my rainspout to have water if it dries up and is hot again...It is full to running over and the pond is half full of rainwater too! Where I used to live they had a saying: "if you don't like the weather...wait five minutes!" it's getting to be like that here too!

Well, we had two nice days over the weekend Lori, but now it's cold again and miserable. I'm beginning to look forward to autumn now...at least I won't be so fed up with it....and we are going to Tenerife in late October and it's always warm there!

25 Jul, 2011

As you know Karen we had a friend from the south staying with us and per usual the weather was not warm. As soon as he left it all changed....Glasgow is having Summer this week!!!! It was like Autumn here last week. I have been gardening in my shorts today. I love the last photo too Karen.....the red poppies and powder blue gate is lovely.

25 Jul, 2011

Thanks Linda. Glad it's nice over there, it's freezing here again, but yesterday was just lovely.

25 Jul, 2011

Oh dear Karen, pleased you had a warm weekend but sorry it's all change for you again. It's been a glorious day down here, got my new plants in and realise I've got a tan without trying! I love the last pic on this blog and always view it when you have a comment ... : o ))))

Thanks Shirley. I have this pic as my screensaver on the laptop upstairs...it looks even better when it's bigger!
