Our Weekend in Moray

It’s always good to be back home of course, although we have had a great weekend away. The weather on Friday was terrific and we set off over the Cairn O’ Mount. Here’s Scott at the top, looking out over the hills and toward the sea. The sea is clearly visible in the distance, but probably not at this size. From up here it is possible to see Carnoustie bay about 35 miles in the distance.

From the top of the Cairn O Mount it is not far down the other side to Banchory, where we stopped at a large garden centre for coffee. I was so good, I didn’t even look at any plants…well I did glance at some indoor ones, but no purchases were made! Then we went onwards to Moray. Here is the wonderful view from the bottom of my friend Denise’s garden.

The buildings across the water, which is the mouth of the River Spey, are at Spey Bay, a famous Dolphin watching spot.

And here are the resident swan family

And this is Tikka, Korma and Bhuna who provided my breakfasts!

And here is the action man proving that an old dog can learn new tricks!

….and bailing out!

And here is a dolphin, this morning at Spey Bay clearly commenting on his amusement at Scott’s efforts to sail a canoe!

Oh, it’s so good to have a husband that even the wildlife can really laugh at!!

Thanks San....I was very excited about the dolphins...it was hard to catch them on camera so I was really pleased to get this shot. There were three of them we think, all playing very close to the shore and about 20 or so people watching them.....fantastic to see!

Thanks everyone. you will see pictures of me in a canoe one day, next summer at the latest, but there was a really good reason I couldn't do it this year, and that's all I want to say on the subject...very disappointed, it is one of my 'things to do before i'm too old'..something I've always wanted to do, and the perfect environment to do it in! Sigh!
