As you may or may not know, we are novice gardeners. We (or rather I) made a big mistake yesterday. I went outside in morning to open up our little greenhouse so that the plants and cuttings didn’t get singed by the sun. Fat chance of that as it rained all day. Anyway, I digress. When I came home from work last night I went outside to see how the plants were doing, before collecting Little P from school, only to find that Smudge likes rocket! We had two lovely little clumps of rocket growing and all that was left were a pot of rocket stalks! He must be one of the healthiest rabbits known to man – all this free range grass and rocket must be doing him wonders.

This morning Smudge came to the back door when I opened the conservatory blinds. I swear he thinks he’s a cat. He comes in most mornings and has a bit of carrot or a few Shreddies before the rest of us go off to work and school. Today he decided to go on a tour of the house. The dining room doors were open so he went off for a walk round the living room and then decided to take himself upstairs to see my son (officially his owner but if it were left to him to look after Smudge, Smudge would be dead!). It’s quite comical seeing a rabbit hop up and down stairs.

We’ve put a clematis in the ground this evening and it’s protected by chicken wire. I hope it will still be there in the morning. Fingers crossed as we are talking about the bunny who, over time, ate his way out of the chicken wire on his run (hence he’s now free range).

Oh and on top of all that, he’s now decided that he doesn’t want to leave his rabbit-doings on the grass where he’s been going for ages – he’s decided to leave us little parcels of rabbit poo on the new patio. He’s probably protesting to the fact there are new “things” in HIS garden.

We do love our bunny – honest!
