Smudge

This is our first entry about Smudge, our free-range bunny. Smudge is a dwarf lop-eared rabbit and who will be 5 in August this year. He is a funny bunny who thinks he is part cat! When we first had Smudge he used to hang out with our neighbour’s cat. At times he would try to have his wicked way with the cat, but she was having none of it, and rightly so. Despite Smudge’s confusion as to whether he was a cat or Pepsi was a rabbit, the two could often be found snuggled up together in the garden. Sadly Pepsi passed away last year but Smudge is still going strong.

As we write, Smudge is sleeping in the middle of the garden. We think he’s relieved that it’s finally stopped raining and he can venture out into his Kingdom. Mind you, the rain doesn’t normally stop him as he can often be found sat out in the pouring rain, twitching every now and then when a raindrop falls on his nose.

We decided to put some plants on the floor the other day to see if he was tempted by them. The only plant he didn’t show an interest in was the cat mint, so we are “go, go, go” to plant that in the garden. Now, if only we could find more plants that he isn’t bothered with. If only we could take him to the garden centre and let him have a wander round …

I loved this blog. I did wonder how you protect your plants, but you seem to be doing alright. You could always build him a dining room enclosure and fill it with so much food that he hasn't room for anything else before letting him out? Fat chance! Shall you get a kitten for him to play with?he must miss Pepsi. I look forward to reading the further adventures of Free Range Bunny.

Loved your Blog about Smudge, seems like a great character...losing Pepsi
must have been a great loss to him, seeing as they were good mates..
That`s strange, that he does not like cat mint, as he imagined himself to be
half cat...lovely pic of Smudge & Pepsi together, pity we can just see the back end of Smudge LOL
