today on allotment Peter gave me some of his mini leeks…

i took them home washed them ..we decided to have potato & leek soup for tea..

fresh coriander from greenhouse..

i followed recipe from net ..onion,potato,skimmed milk, black pepper, veg stock cube and topped with coriander ..from plot to plate in 1 hour you cant get much fresher than that..

i even pushed the boat out and made croutons..we were starving by now..

it smelt delicious..

it was b——y horrible it all went in bin ..ah well some you win..

What a disappointment Joanella, the would have been much nicer gently braised in butter for a few minutes and served with poached chicken or fish.

Oh,dear, how annoying is that....but,the croutons look good :o)) I can't stand leeks as a vegetable on their own,but always put them in a stew.Shame about all your wasted effort though..

Bloomer i do the same and put them in stews, it wasnt the leeks.. i think it was the coriander that did it..i have got loads of the stuff in my greenhouse and just checked on net slugs dont like it either so its all going on the plot round my veg lol:o)

Oh what a disappointment.
When I use them I just make a base of veg. soup/stew by throwing everything in a big pot. Water or stock, onions, carrots, celery, leeks, potatoes, parsley & a bit of coriander ( cilantro ) garlic salt & pepper and it's delicious. Perhaps it was too much of one thing.
