Isn't that so delightful, Joanella. :) It's so sweet when the grandkids have such thoughts towards their nana. It will be interesting to see what develops from your seeds....and I'm sorry but no idea how they get the words in the seed....I bet someone on GOY will know though! lol

hope so J i havent a clue..i bought Charlotte age 9 a dream catcher today & will be sending it tomorrow as she has been having a few bad dreams..i have to be careful as i dont like buying one without the other & when you have 15 grandchildren it can be a bit costly lol..

Wow...15 grandkiddies, Joanella! Only 4 here and that's just fine by us.lol

It's difficult when they have little troubles (like your Charlotte's dreams) so I hope she finds comfort with her dream catcher.. I think she will find it a welcome surprise from nana.

I've done a google search and found the words are etched onto the seed by laser. I think the seed you have is commonly called a Jack in the Beanstalk (Canavalia ensiformis).

There is a long article about the beans and how they grow them in Singapore if it interests you. http://greenculturesg.com/articles/feb07/feb07_swordbean.htm

Enjoy your plant....and if it grows as much as those pictured in this article you may need an arch in the garden! lol

yes it can be with laser or they can be irridated through the seed coat.

you are most welcome David..:o)

14 Oct, 2010

I'll be on the lookout for them. :-))

I thought I'd seen it all but this is something I'd never seen before! It will be interesting to see how it develops. As it is only the seed leaves that have been etched once they fall off I don't think you will see any more.

I hope my granddaughter will give me something like that one day! She's only 3 at the moment.
