??? Feeling Blue ???

A few weeks backs I did a blog on how we had finally found some blue wall pots. I said how Tim wanted a blue theme in the garden. Thought I would show you our collection so far.

When I met Tim, my own house only had a small courtyard for a garden, so I had lots of pots. All different shapes and sizes. When we moved in together, all the pots came with me. Tim wasn’t really into pots but he liked the two big blue/green ones I had. Slowly I got him around to my way of thinking but he wanted a blue theme. When we moved up here, we were on a tight budget so we agreed to only bring the blue pots and i gave over 40 different pots to my old neighbour. We like that the coloured pots brightened up the place even in winter.

My favourite is not even a pot but a bottle. Tim bought it for one of my birthdays. He didn’t understand why I wanted it, as he put it, “you can’t even plant it up”. He now loves it as much as I do lol.

When we went to buy the bottle, Tim saw this next one. His thoughts was at least it’s a proper pot. When we got home, placed them in our old garden, he did admit that he liked my bottle more lol. But this is a nice pot and we like it up against our front garden wall.

We then decided that we would try and look for pots that are slightly different. We found this one and liked the shape of it.

I then found this candle holder.

Tim came home one day with a blue bird bath.

We then moved up here and due to storm Doris, the trellis in the back garden was knocked down. As it covered next doors side of their house, we felt it needed to be replaced and the Ivy growing all over it, got rid of. But the new one was so bare. Found these 4 cheap hanging pots. They didn’t weather well last winter so think this summer will be their last and hopefully the roses that I’ve planted will cover more of the trellis.

When we moved in here, the previous owner left so much stuff and most of it had to be taken to the tip. About the only things we kept was 2 plastic, you guessed it, blue pots ?. When I took this photo, Shadow was ever hopeful that I would throw his toy.

This is the 6 new blue wall pots that we found up in their new home. In this photo you can also see the original 2 blue/green pots that started it all either side of the front door.

Last weekend, Tim decided that we needed a new pot in the front. Near us is Amsterdam ‘s favourite garden centre called Oakgate. They have lots of different pots that you don’t find elsewhere. So off we went and came home with this one. There was until this week a small bit of lawn under the window but Tim hated getting the mower in there so I jumped as the chance to dig it up and will plant it up. Oh dear, looks like i will have to go plant shopping lol.

And lastly Tim felt that the corner of the drive needed something. Yes, more pots so off we went and got 2 more wall pots. It wasn’t till i took this photo that i realise, even my daughter car colour matches the colour scheme ?.

Lovely idea and very good in the way of keeping you to a 'budget' of only buying one colour and giving your family and friends a clue of what to get you for birthdays/Christmas etc. I love blue glass bottles for popping flowers in, the type you buy with water in them.

Lol, Sunnydais, my birthday is in July and my family are already asking what I want and there just so happens to be a pair of pots I saw the other weekend. ?. Being fairly new to the area, last year I found out that I live close to David Austin rose garden centre so for my birthday, Tim and I went there and he bought me 3 roses as part of my present. Your blue bottles sound very nice.

You need to look for shades of blue roses!

Lol. Did make me laugh. Luckily Tim's colour scheme doesn't include the flowers and plants and I'm not giving him that idea ?

I love all tjose blue pots! And I love that blue bottle as well! Im sure I’ve said it before Jen, but your blue pots take back to Morocco and the Jardin Majorelle. It was unforgettable. They had tons of Blue (known as MajorelleBlue) and also losds of terracotta which contrasts beautifully with the blue....just saying....;)

Wow, what a collection! I love the blue pots and you’ve just reminded me to pop to Oakgate soon, hoping their new tearoom will be open shortly! I took a gardening friend with me last time and she keeps on asking when we could go back again!

Your blue pots really stand out - I really love the shapes etc.
Is that a Fatisa Japonica in one of your photos ? I am looking for Japonica Spider's Web which is variegated .

Blue is my favourite colour and you have so many different shapes. They really brighten up the place for you :)

Thanks Karen. Very interesting. Didn't know that. Would love to put terracotta with them but his Lordship wants just the blue lol. I gave some lovely big terracotta ones to my old neighbour :-(. But saying that, they went to a very good home and who loves gardening. I liked the candle holder, it was just one of those things that had to come home with me ?.

Amsterdam, it was not this weekend gone but the one before and new tea room was still just a shell. They had all their pots on half marked price. Have you tried that garden nursery on the A49 just before the roundabout at Whitchurch called Holly Farm garden centre. That is where I found the blue wall pots and there is a nice selection of plants there as well.

Marjorie, thank you. Yes it is. Bought it about a month ago. I have 2 mature one in my front garden put in by previous owner. This one cost me £40 As it is quite large. I got it from a local small family run nursery near me called Barlows. What I like about them is they only sell garden ready trees, shrubs and hardy perennials and everything I've got from there has done well. Saw the same size in a big garden shopping centre and that was £45. They had the variegated ones as well but think I had seen that they are not so hardy as mine? Good luck with finding yours ?.

Thank you Hywel. That's why we like them. What makes it harder is I like to find ones that are a bit different but saying that, Oakland's did have some nice just plain square ones that are tempting me to go back for lol

Thank you Dawn. I've not seen one since and the little place that I got it from closed down years ago. When I joined here, Paulspatch was still on here and we got talking and he thought I was talking about a giant statue of a blue bottle fly in my garden. ?
