The greatest man I ever knew

Dear Friends,

Every morning since dad died (6/5/10) I have taken comfort in the garden. It looks fantastic this time of year. I fancy that the birds are comforting me too because they do not mind me and have come down close and looked me in the eye.

My dad’s garden is surrounded by a small woodland beautifully kept. I must now get photos on here for you all to see it.

The birds at dad’s used to drive me mad, every morning tweeting like mad. Now they are comforting me.

I hope you don’t mind here is a poem I wrote for dad.

The Greatest Man I Ever Knew

He was the centre of my world, he was my Dad I was his girl.
Together, to coin a phrase, we were like “peas and carrots”.

A Dad like no other with patience and care, I knew it was my good fortune – God sent me there.

Adopted at 5, with pain at the start, I started a journey “til death do us part”.

This man took my hand and protected me now. It would one day be repaid – though I didn’t know how.

How can you repay a lifetime of love? You can’t it was destined and sent from above.

My honour, my pride, my ultimate goal was to pay tribute to this man and “Let it be so!”

My Fantastic, Mr James Bond – I will miss you forever, now you are gone!

I love you Dad

If you too have lost someone dear, I hope you will forgive my outpouring here. (That wasn’t supposed to be a poem by the way)!

Many thanks for your friendship everyone – Love Janie xx

I am sorry to hear about your dad. Tears fills my eyes, as I understand how that feels. I am about to adopt a little boy of 9 years old, I am totally devoted to him, and him me. He has found a mother in me, you had a loving dad, that love will never fade, it will be there forever. Can't wait to see his garden. God does send angels when we need it most.

Those are wonderful sentiments to your Dad, he would be so proud of them.
I lost my Dad 7 years ago, went without warning and now there are so many things I wished we'd spoken about while he was here. My condolences are sent to you at this sad time.

I am very, very sorry & sad to hear about your loving father, who passed away
just recently, what lovely thoughts & memories you have of your dear departed father, you have expressed them to us beautifully!! It must be so comforting for
you, to be in your dad`s garden, amongst everything he loved there....the
birds do sense your sadness, and in their funny ways, try to bring you some
cheer in your sadness....Your Father will be forever watching over you, just
keep that thought in your heart...God be with you, to comfort you, at this sad
time...xx

I'm so sorry to hear about your Dad. It's a horrible thing for you to go through. My Dad died 4 years ago and I still miss him more than words can say.

I hope the garden will bring you some comfort at this dreadful time.

Dads are amazing aren't they? (and Mums). It's very heartwarming to hear how much yours loved you and you him, in an overbusy world which gets us down sometimes - too much selfishness and grumbling mine included!

These are the things that really count in the end though. You have your priorities straight. I miss my aunt sometimes quite acutely while gardening, maybe because she loved gardens so much too. It happened again today. There I was clipping the hedge and suddenly thought that her lovely welcoming home and little garden full of colour had gone forever.
