Urgent - Check for this beetle

I have a run of 18 lavender plants along my shingle path and have about 40 odd Rosemary Beetles so far, all captured and alive. I have had help from the rhs website and will send some off to the John Innes Centre – they are doing research on this nasty (but beatiful) bug.

Please take a look at this site it is really helpful – tells of how the beetle can devastate lavender rosemary and thyme. Advice on treatment and how to avoid hurting bees.

I will have to take drastic action as the beetles and their larvae can kill an entire plant and breed in the soil.

I urge you all to check your herbs (listed above). The RHS have a reference grid so submit your findings to alert of the spread.

Good luck

Thanks TT, had a look at Potty gardners bug. I guess there are a lot of threats out there and it is important to determine the good and bad bugs. The news about my bugs has frightened the bijeebers out of me especially as i thought it to be so pretty.

I will identify all garden aliens but treat them as suspicious until proven otherwise in future. :)
