Oh I'm glad you didn't grass it over . In my old cottage I took the front lawn away and put heathers. It was much nicer and less work aswell. You'll be glad you put them Jacque :o))

Hi Jac... This border looks pretty...
When you made the border, did you have to put in ericaceous soil in for some of the heathers, and do you have to top up with similar compost ?

I dont regret making this border Hywel :) Phil just prefers grass to Flowers :( Hi TT When i planted The Heathers i added Lots of Ericaceous Soil & add more to it around their roots as they grow :) The Bark Chip gives them a nice Wood Land feel & stops them drying out as this Border is in Full Sun all day :)

I commented on the individual photo you've published, I had not seen this blog.
Even though I copied from a website, I think exactly what I wrote, and you will have the chance to read it written correctly.

That's lovely Jacque. I'm glad TT asked about the soil, I wouldn't mind trying to create a similar border. I didn't realise full sun was ok either, which is great because that's all I've got!

Yes, Jac. currently, I have heathers in containers, and in a raised bed, but might make another heather area....
