we planted this many last year but they succumbed to the flooding should these grow to their full potential we should be selling the surplus from the farm gate! alternatively i'll make a HUGE potful of pumpkin soup for Bonfire Night and invite the GOY gang!!! hehe!!

we tie them to train them up the cane and give extra support as the fruits do grow to a good size. we pick them when they either reach the size the packet states they should grow to or when we think they look too good to leave there hanging and would look better on our plate haha!!

The flowers are an indication... potatoes are usually there when the flowers open so depending on the size of potato pick anytime after the flowers open/die down! I have been harvesting my earlies for a couple of weeks now,,, they are yummy!

We started off with eight hives 4 for us and 4 for a friend... the numbers dramatically decreased last year but we have gone from 2 to 4 hives this year! We are learning thro doing... our friend lost interest almost straight away as he got stung several times!

they will counteract yellowing leaves caused by magnesium deficiency in any plants dissolve 2 and a half oz/ 70g in 2galls/9litres of water and spray directly onto plants. They can also improve soil quality just scatter 20g per square metre/ half an oz per square yard over a bed and mix in! I use it whenever i see signs this is usually more than one application! It works!

I went back yesterday tea time and the bees were flying in and out of the new hive collecting pollen so im hopeful that they have settled! I'll keep my eyes peeled just in case they swarm again tho!

ours did this... just snip them off! The plant is putting so much energy into growing and producing that some cucumbers don't develop. If ur plant has other cucumbers further up or flowers you should be ok! also watch out for the leaves turning yellow this will be a magnesium deficiency all you need are some epsom salts mixed with water and you will have a healthy plant!
