Going Stir Crazy!

Having been stuck in the house for as long as I can remember (if it’s not raining it’s snowing or so cold brass monkeys are walking around looking VERY frightened!) Carol and I decided to “break out”, go anywhere, just get in the car and GO!

Well, I’m pleased we did, after driving around for about 20 minutes, down a road, off a side road that we had passed many times but never taken, we found a garden centre Yeay!

Obviously we just had to call in and have a cuppa and while we were there we found this

A bag of goodies! Lol

What was in it?

Dahlia Caballero

Gladioli Baccara

Dahlia Edge of Joy

Some more peas and beans for the allotment.

And obviously with more peas and beans you need pea and bean netting to grow them up!

I wasn’t to keen on “just going for a drive”, CO2’s and global warming and all that but I’m pleased we did. We found an excellent GC with everything under cover and heated. The whole lot (including two hot chocolates with whipped cream, marsh mallows and chockie flake) came to under £20

We’ll be going back there again, that’s for sure, but we won’t wait until we’re going stir crazy!

Hi Ian,know what you mean, its those sort of days when I regret not being able to drive, you`ve had a good time and got some bargains as well............

I always used to drive into places I'd never been - just 'because', and I often found little gems like your wonderful GC. I'm a firm believer of trying new routes and 'getting lost.' Enjoy all your new toys, Ian.

Thank you all, we had a great time out and are looking forward to getting into the garden to plant our "goodies"
There's a lot said for getting lost now and again, the trouble is being a lorry driver all my working life it isn't easy for me to get lost! Lol

Sounds great Ian. I'm sure you more than reduced your carbon footprint by buying things to grow. Real bargains too. Hope the weather improves soon so that you can get digging.

gla dyou got out and found your bargains Ian.... i think we all are going stir crazy with the weather......

You definitely did need to get out, Ian, and I'm sure you both felt MUCH better for it, too! Nice goodies to take home. as well. :-)

Pleased you enjoyed your outing and i think you did well for £20....

Thanks again all,

We did enjoy ourselves and as we are together 24/7 (I'm Carols carer) it was especially good to be out of the house for a few hours.

I hope you didn't try to 'lose' her amongst the vegetation, Ian! LOL.

(Only teasing - honest!)

Glad you managed to break out Ian, I feel like that after just spending Christmas day indoors. My wife fancies a trip there I think the hot chocolate swung it for her. Great blog and photos.

There wasn't enough vegetation to lose anything Spritz, but it's not a bad idea later in the year when things have filled out a bit! Lol
Hi DoctorB. It would make for an expensive drink for you to come all this way! Perhaps you can get the recipe on line. Lol

I'll tell Carol you said that, Ian! If she can reach, you'll get a slap round the head from her! LOL.

27 Feb, 2010

Nooooooooooooo Don't do that! Lol

27 Feb, 2010

You did well there, Ian! :-) A day out, a new GC, a bag of goodies & a cup of hot chocolate into the bargain! (Pun intended!) ;-)

You will have enough peas & beans to keep a pea processing plant in operation for a year!!! You'll end up looking "peasey" & a little green around the gills! :-D

Easy-peasy! LOL.

OK, I won't tell her this time.....

28 Feb, 2010

Lol Balcony, I intend setting up in competition to Birds eye!
Phew Spritz, I thought I was in for another good slapping for a minute!

Hi Ian... just can't wait, either! We've had a really early spring..but March isn't finished with us yet.... hope we dont get a pile of snow at month's end because at present all the snow is gone and we've been having 70 degree F. temps...I've drained the pond and it's in need of a scrubbing out...and wouldn't you know it ...today the temps are back down to seasonal... about 40 degrees F...chillllly.
That sounds like a wonderful discovery...congrats. hope your weather gets back on track so you can get them in the ground...then again peas don't mind the cooler temps. btw...how's the telescope working out?
