I was bored, so I wrote a blog :o)

Last night Beryl was watching come dancing, and she keept saying she was bored with it … but she wouldn’t switch it off …
I was really BORED with it, and all those naff celebrities
(of whom I knew only one)

so I wrote a blog :o)

I found some autumnal photos of the hills near here, and I uploaded them … because it gave me something to do, while those NAFF celebrities (of whom I knew only one) made public fools of themselves in front of the whole nation :o(

I understand some of them (if not all of them) work hard at getting the steps right …. because they love themselves, and want to win …. so that people who have nothing better to think about, can avidly follow the meaningless gossip about their lives :o(

but I find them all very boring … :o(((((

…………………………………………………………………………………………………..

It’s September, and autumn tints are appearing on the hills …

Hafod Wennol nestles in a peaceful landscape …

Garth Eithin amongst the trees …

Godre y Garth surrounded by wonderful views …
(some of my ancestors lived here in the 1700s)

Windswept Gellilwca braces it’s self against the weather …

Ancient stone walls, now crumbling with age …

And new stone walls keeping up the old tradition …

A mountain stream babbles it’s way through a narrow valley …

Animals graze and wander about on the hills in all seasons …

Heather and berries brighten up the moors every
September …

I grew up among these hills … this is where I learnt everything I know

Generations of ancestors have lived and died here …

I shall die here too … but not just yet ! ;D

I could be wrong Hywel, but I take it you don't like 'Strictly...? I can't say as I blame you. I'd much rather be out in the glorious countryside.
You are lucky enough to have been born and still live in a beautiful part of this island. Pity those who haven't been so lucky.
Your pictures are great.

Thank you Waddy :o)
No, I am not a fan of naff celebrities ... I find them boring :o)

8 Sep, 2013

I have just tried catching up with Strictly on iplayer and got bored in 20mins even with the sound off. So pleased I then found your lovely pictures, what perfect looking scenes, will be great to look back on when it is cold and miserable.

It was on in my house too but I wasn't paying too much attention!
What a beautiful place to live. Everything looks perfect. Thanks for posting these Hywel. Wales is now on the list should I ever win the lottery :)

8 Sep, 2013

I've never watched it and never will! Far too many better things to do with my time!
Lovely blog Hywel, how lucky you are to come from such a gorgeous part of Wales. Mind you, I'm pretty lucky myself, Cheshire's a beautiful county!;)

8 Sep, 2013

Its not for me either Hywel. This is a lovely blog I love the beauty of Wales though its some years now since my last holiday there. What a great place to be buried when it comes to it, so beautiful and peaceful and quite unchanged over the years long may it continue.

8 Sep, 2013

Hi Hywel, I'm with you on this, in my opinion they're not celebrities if you don't know who they are, being on tv a couple of times doesn't give them this status, Derek.

8 Sep, 2013

We haven't even got a telly and I've only seen Strictly once. I thought it was pretty pathetic and you were much better off looking again at your fantastic pictures Hywel.
I love old stone walls and little rivers - Did you show us that bridge before, it looks familiar? Does Hafod Wennol mean swallow summer? All Welsh place names seem to mean something and its very frustrating not knowing what it is- I have a little book of place names that deals with towns and villages but not hills!
Is your family buried in that graveyard?

I have just looked at your Blog and Photos. That is just Beautiful.much Better than Strictly. Any Day.my Husband Is A Stone Mason And He As Done Lot Of work With stone. He Built A four Bed Bungalow all in Stone.i will try and upload some photos of the work he has done over the years. It Looks beautiful.

8 Sep, 2013

I was home alone and the cold drove me indoors so I did give Strictly a go, bad idea as I really cannot abide Bruce Forsyth he makes me cringe with embarrassment, ended up with the volume on mute, lol, Saturday is usually a night for catching up on programmes we have recorded that come on during the week but not at convenient times for us..
I know its selfish but I'm glad you were bored Hywel, especially as it meant we get to see more of the beautiful scenery that you are surrounded by where you live , I always enjoy seeing the photo's of your part of Wales, those hills seem to go on forever and I never tire of hearing about the past...

8 Sep, 2013

You live in a beautiful place Hywel, such fantastic pics, thank you for sharing.

8 Sep, 2013

I am with you all the way on this Hywell, I don't watch the television that much, the OH watches it but I would rather come up to my computer room and read what people have to say on here, at least you learn something from others that you may not be sure of and so a second opinion is handy, as I always say no matter how old you are you never stop learning. As others have said you are lucky to live in Wales with all that fantastic scenery, the photo's look great, long may you enjoy it there where you live.

8 Sep, 2013

Another great blog Hywel - I'm not a Strictly fan either - thanks for sharing your lovely scenic views always enjoy seeing your part of Wales :o)

8 Sep, 2013

it's much better looking at all that beautiful scenery than that dancing programme!

8 Sep, 2013

There is nothing like natural beauty is there? Hills and stone walls and rivers - what a beautiful landscape. The little church is charming too.

Not a lot that's natural on Strictly though!

8 Sep, 2013

Like everybody above we never watch the programme either - we have only ever seen extracts that are put on from time to time. In fact the TV is only really on when the grandkids are here! Even then it's mostly on the Ceebeebies channel! I only watch the news programme in the morning while having breakfast then turn it off for the rest of the day! I'd much rather be writing on the gardening forums I post on than watch the boring ol' box!

You do indeed live in a great part of the British Isles, Hywel, & you are very fortunate to have been born there & spent your 6 decades there! :-))

Like people above I also love to see the countryside around where you live! Perhaps it's in part that this region, East Anglia, Cambridgeshire, is so flat & featureless! Where I lived in my wife's town in Spain there were hills all around - you'll have seen them in one or two blogs I've written about Cuenca, central Spain.

Your photos of the old dry stone walls & the new ones (made with mortar!) are quite a contrast! There are very few around here, mostly in very old houses, enclosing their gardens. I still remember them very well from my trips visiting a couple of friends in West Yorkshire at the beginning of the '70s before going to Spain. They used to fascinate me!

8 Sep, 2013

Thank you all for looking at my photos :o)
I hardly ever watch the trash on tv. It's a waste of money as far as I'm concerned.
Beryl said she isn't going to follow the rest of come dancing, because she sais it's boring and the celebrities get on her nerves ... but if she does, I shall write more bolgs lol

Balcony, Sometimes hills can be eerie, and rainy. I like flat places. There are some in Wales ... and there are lots of hilly areas in England :o)
I remember your blogs about Spain ...

Steragram, I have shown these photos before. It was last year, but I deleted them. I decided to show them again, when come dancing was getting on my nerves ...
Hafod Wennol means "swallow's summer home" ... It's the name of the farm in the photo.
Yes I have ancestors buried in two of the graveyards, and another ancestor was a minister in one of the little chapels :o)

Thanks for all your comments :o)

9 Sep, 2013

I'm with you all the way on these "celebrity show-offs"

It seems you love them or hate them......we all seem in the latter category!
Thanks Hywel is very lovely there xxx

9 Sep, 2013

Beautiful scenery Hywel.
Although I have a Tv aerial at the roof of the house and three satellite dishes on top of my conservatory, I only watch the news from Cyprus once a day and that's it. Nothing else.
My wife watches "Strickly come dancing" in order to judge, because she is a very good dancer and she used to teach Greek dancing too.

9 Sep, 2013

Lovely blog Hywel, you have some beautiful countryside where you live.... dont likr that program either.... :))

9 Sep, 2013

Ha ha,.....you don't glady suffer fools do you Hywell....But, your time was much better spent with this blog and the wonderful pictures.I can't comment on Come Dancing as I've never watched it since it became another celeb gossip type programme. why the heck have all the tv competitions, quizzes etc that used to be for members of the public(and in the case of Come Dancing...for amateur dancers from normal dancing clubs) become a platform for minor celebrities(and that's too bigger name for most of them who, like you, I've never heard of) to try and boost heir flagging careers? if their careers are flagging, there's a reason for it so, probably best to work on that rather than make a fool, out of themselves!! Oh blimey, I didn't realise I felt so strongly about it!!!!!

9 Sep, 2013

Gosh, judging by all the comments here, I'm surprised ANYONE is watching 'that' program. I must agree with those of you who commented that they can't be celebs if no one has heard of them...or their careers have taken a nose dive.
You've started something now Hywel lol!

9 Sep, 2013

Watched a bit of "Strictly" when it first started & that was enough for me. Like everyone else I loved the scenes of Wales. Lovely place to grow up in, better than Manchester, where they play the test match in canoes & you wake in the morning to the sound of the birds coughing! I was sent to Conway, N.Wales twice when I was a child, to recuperate from the M/c air. Then coal fires were banned @ something called anthracite was burned instead. I expect this change would have affected the miners. Not sure if the air quality is better now in M/c. then the problem was coal, but now it will be cars. Can't win can we?

For petes sake lighten up , Life is about people and the countryside you should be able to enjoy ALL aspects of life..Take things with a pinch of salt.I love the countryside in the day light hours then escape to other thing that I can't do in the evenings......Like watching dancing on the tele :~))

9 Sep, 2013

Thank you all for your comments :o)

Swanky we can't all enjoy everything.

9 Sep, 2013

Thank you for posting this blog, Hywel .. it's always a joy to see the beautiful countryside in your part of the world ... all look so tranquil ... :o)

9 Sep, 2013

I loved the beautiful photos of your wonderful part of the world, Hywel, so it was to our advantage that you were bored with Strictly. Personally, I don't mind it and lots of people love it. Whatever floats your boat, as they say...

9 Sep, 2013

Thank you Shirley :o) It is tranquil until some idiot comes speeding along the mountain roads as if there were racing tracks lol :D

9 Sep, 2013

You had a 'wales' of a time with your lovely Welsh scenery Hywel. 'Strictly' is a bit like Maggie....you love it or hate it. Enough said. I loath X factor.....can't stand all the screaming, and that other caterwauling one with Tom Jones is not too far behind. Flog it and the like are quite interesting but not obsessive about them. We all have different tastes in TV viewing. Very good 'bolg'!

9 Sep, 2013

Thank you Tuesdaybear we crossed each other then lol ...
So called celebrities prattling on about how wonderful they are irritates me.

Thank you Dorjac. I don't watch much TV shows. I have more interesting things to do ... :o)

9 Sep, 2013

You`ve captured the wonderful rolling scenery of Wales beautifully Hywel, much nicer to look at than the so called celebs on Strictly.

9 Sep, 2013

You live in a lovely part of Wales all that beautiful scenery we have not long moved to North Wales from Cheshire and I love it. Great photo's.

11 Sep, 2013

I so love your photos Hywel and the places where you grew up, it is so beautiful, I would love to just stroll down those paths and listen to the birds tweeting. I'm glad you put these pics. back on here, thank you.

Well cat amongst the pigeons here.........we do watch strictly, it is a good laugh, OH records it and then we fast forward Brucie and all the waffle, because we love the dancing!! so Swanky I'm with you on this one......
Hywel you live in one of the most beautiful parts of the world, so thank you for showing us such wonderful photographs of your Wales.

13 Sep, 2013

Thank you :o) I'm pleased you enjoyed the photos.

I really don't care whether anyone else likes come dancing ... I was just saying what I think about celebrities :o)

13 Sep, 2013

I am with you on that one, celebs and footballers!!

14 Sep, 2013

hywel your writing is lovely, your landscapes that surround you are so perfect, excellent!! just for the record I kinda like strictly, I cant be doing with all the mince and drama but I love to watch a good Viennese waltz or American smooth, when the so called celebs are good or even the pros dancing its great to watch x

14 Sep, 2013

Yes Dotty daisy, I agree with you on both counts :o)

Andrea it's the celebs prattling on about themselves that gets on my nerves. I enjoy watching people dancing. They should bring back proper dancers like it used to be :o)

Thanks for all your comments ...

14 Sep, 2013
