Marveling at the rate of growth since the end of February.

I was looking at photo’s I had taken of the garden this year and suddenly realised how quickly everything changes. In March we changed the shape of the sloping lawns and there was very little to see in the borders. Only the odd daffodil beginning to emerge from the freezing cold soil.

The Flat lawn borders were dismal:

It seems we have waited so long for the spring to finally arrive and, in the blink of an eye, everything is shooting up through the warming soil. Plants I had forgotten were there are emerging from their slumbers and growing in leaps and bounds.

The snow drops were first to burst forth:

Then the Daffi’s and tulips:

The Ribes joined them and the bachelor’s buttons.

The Lovely blue Aubrieta seemed to flower overnight.

The magnolias opened up to give us a lovely show. just pipped at the post by the cherry blossom.

I planted the clematis my daughter bought me for Easter and the kiwis in the flat lawn borders today. Then unfortunately rain stopped play mid afternoon. There’s one good thing – it will help settle the new plants in and give the others a good drink.

Mossy saxifrage bought to cheer up the border last month is now flowering well.

I am so looking forward to being able to put in all the plants I have raised from seed this year and enjoying a garden full of flowers and veg as it’s the first year I have been able to spend lots of time getting it sorted properly. And a big THANKS to all you Goyers for infecting me with all your enthusiasm and encouragement. Without which I really wouldn’t have known where to start or what plants I really wanted to grow. Oh! and I now know what most of my plants are called. Lol. :o))))

It's amazing, the difference! I'm glad you took 'before' and 'after' photos - I wish I remembered to do that!

There always seems to be a burst of growth in the spring doesn't there. It's the best time of year I think. Pitty it's over so soon. Your garden is coming along nicely now though.

Hywel I think late spring and early summer are my favourite times, when most long distance plants are up and doing their thing. Plus I like the warmer temperatures.
Gina, thanks, I wouldn't have thought to take photo's before I joined Goy, and it's been nice to look back at them.
Potty, Thanks, yes it's lovely to see the new growth springing up everywhere.
Holly, thanks, I'm sure I didn't have this many tulips last year. I will be able to compare these pics with next years.
:o))
